Last night was a different approach in that we got the ball forward quicker, moved the ball down the channels, less laboured and moved the ball forward at a greater pace. You saw Peck attacking in transition more. It was much more like it.

I’m hoping we continue to move away from trying to control possession as too often we are overplaying at the back and conceded possession in really dangerous areas. We don’t have the quality to do it. Getting ball forward quicker is much more effective - lost count of how many flick ons that McCallum won from diagonals and goal kicks. It’s also a much better watch!

I would play both Burrows and McCallum down our left hand side and Seriki and Brooks down the right and ABC ( anyone but Campbell ) in a two up top

Getting a like from Bergen Blade 😍😍⚔️

Interesting when we try new things, even a new formation. Wilder commented it was our plan to get our strikers to make runs on the outside of their centre halves, and we looked a bit more eager for other players (Peck, O'Hare) to get more forward and into the box. Maybe the first game in a long time that Peck was allowed to play as a number 8, and I thought he covered a lot of ground and was very positive. You're right that our tempo was better and we looked to do things faster.

A real shame about the two set piece goals, but I think that performance would get us point(-s) against a lot of teams. Hopefully something we'll build on and cooperblade's suggested tweaks would be interesting.

Agreed I thought it was very promising. Coventry penned us in and showed their quality after half time. Their physicality and athleticism surprised me. I’m not sure many teams are capable of doing that.

Does Soumare have the discipline to do what Riedewald did? And where would Arblaster sit? Presumably taking Peck’s spot?

Agree their more positive aspects last night.
One of the negatives that needs addressing, as its costing us, is this obsession with Ogbene and this hybrid back 3 when attacking and back 4 when defending. Tanganga just doesnt look comfortable at all when playing right back. If we are doing all this faffing just so Ogbene stays forward its a waste of time as he runs into blind allies, loses possession, and barely puts one decent ball in per game.

He’s not doing it at the minute. I’m not sure Tanganga behind him helps as he gets doubled up on all the time.
