What's the point?

I think we could still do something with the season - survive - perhaps not - but I am not considering the freak result v Luton, lets be honest, how many times do teams concede 2 own goals - the City game was always a write off. Next game v Wet Spam, yep in good form but they'll be missing a few at the AFCON. Who knows - we might have one or two new bodies in for that game too.
Yes, all games start at 0-0, and in theory if we had a decent defence, we’ve always got a chance of a draw. But defending and creating chances aren’t mutually exclusive. Sometimes keeping hold of ball a tad longer and showing a bit more ambition can sometimes achieve a better outcome than backs to the wall defending, I genuinely thought that Villa game was our line in the sand. I came away from Villa Park thinking we could really get out of this awful mess…Sadly, it seems that spirit was merely a one off.

Driving through Harewood on the way to the match I saw a group of walkers waiting to cross the road in the pouring rain and thought "who in their right mind would going walking in this weather?"

On the way home as I passed through Harewood I thought to myself " who in their right mind would struggle to drive 60 miles+ through pouring rain (at times). poor visibility and standing water to watch a football match in which we had little or no chance of competing?"

I think the walkers and myself were all bonkers!
I let my daughter and grandson go today instead of us. Mainly because they live in Bolton. Actually, that's a lie. Mainly because I couldn't be bothered. My, how times change.
Ps They both said it's the most boring game they've ever been to.

Perhaps he believes we aint good enough to survive and wont put his mortgage on us doing so - eventhough in theory if we did, he would make more money.....
Yes, if you install a new kitchen or retile the roof…it makes the house a lot more saleable.

I love your optimism, with a little under half a season still to play. I guess a bit of hope wouldn’t hurt, to help get us through this awful season.

Were the paupers at the top table, the players are at the limit of what they can do in this division, some playing were regarded as not good enough and past it at the start... Now they're on the pitch away at Man City..

So who's shocked that most weeks we get a tonking after ripping up our game plan and team before a ball was kicked, we made a shocking start due to those two leaving, but they're footballers. In the end they'll look after themselves, Prince was looking at a checkmate and decided to sell for the clubs best interests.

In the past you'd be able to grab a few wins against the grain, shock a team or two that you wouldn't expect to beat (you know where this is going don't you) and breed a little confidence that you have a dog in the fight.. Spurs away where the rule changes manifested themselves against us as they were intended to do.. That knocked the stuffing out of me, to me we are fighting the media, the division, the refs and rule changes, and the overpowering financial gap between mid table teams and the newly promoted.

The next three to come up will face the same fate, some will hold Luton up as the exception because they're clearly over achieving today, but they'll eventually fail on squad depth should they get long term injuries or sell key players, sound familiar..

The point I hear you say, that second goal against Luton and the celebrations, "scenes" the young uns say, for that moment, that's the point..

It's the hope that kills you though 🤣

This season is sewing a seed of agreement with a closed shop prem league (sans us, obvs). Looking good whilst still failing is the best we can achieve, and we're currently a fair way from that.

It wasn't all bad ,held City to their average of 82% possession and kept them at 2 goals instead of their average of 3 goals at home.
As depressing as it is. keeping the score 'respectable" will have been the sole objective. I appreciate its painful viewing, but just a quick look at the table our goal difference is eye-wateringly bad not that this needs highlighting, but it certainly needs addressing. taking a 2 goal hit at the Etihad will have CW secretly happy on the inside
