I totally agree with the TalkSport shock-jocks in that we've disrespected the PL with our approach. From the recruitment, through to the fitness/conditioning, to how long we stuck with the manager who had clearly fallen off a cliff.

We've just lost to the best team in the world - no not just because they won a two bob cup in Dubai - but because they have the most expensively assembled team and they have the best coach, best trainers, best conditions, best nutritionists etc etc. Why is it like a wake on here? Today's result was always a certainty unless (a) Man City decided to play with their weaker feet and one arm behind there back (b) we are allowed to play 22 players (3) we were give a 5-0 head start.

The team cannot compete against them and Wilder set up to try make us difficult to beat. We lost 2-0. What would it have been under the former boss?

We are small fry in a MASSIVE pond. We have no money to set up or bring in players. Look at Forest, spent 200m and still struggle. Yep, some will argue we've been poorly prepared but was it any different under Wilder in 2019-20? Same owner, same manager, same budget. We finished 9th.

3/5 seasons in PL - yes, probably wasted but I can see plenty of other teams who have had longer, hung on grimly and now are in Champ and Lge One.

And yet, if we get things right in the summer, who knows? And hey, we might be in a promotion place - but whats the point coz we will come back down with a wimper.

Driving through Harewood on the way to the match I saw a group of walkers waiting to cross the road in the pouring rain and thought "who in their right mind would going walking in this weather?"

On the way home as I passed through Harewood I thought to myself " who in their right mind would struggle to drive 60 miles+ through pouring rain (at times). poor visibility and standing water to watch a football match in which we had little or no chance of competing?"

Yes, all games start at 0-0, and in theory if we had a decent defence, we’ve always got a chance of a draw. But defending and creating chances aren’t mutually exclusive. Sometimes keeping hold of ball a tad longer and showing a bit more ambition can sometimes achieve a better outcome than backs to the wall defending, I genuinely thought that Villa game was our line in the sand. I came away from Villa Park thinking we could really get out of this awful mess…Sadly, it seems that spirit was merely a one off.
