Football is never that simple.
All the top quality players are expensive and demand unreasonably high wages…..which next season we can’t afford.

Injury prone players are cheap….that and loans are the easiest way to bring in quality players without the big financial commitment.

Remember David McGoldrick? Quality player but injury prone so very few clubs were interested in him.
We offered a relatively low salary and he ended up being one of our better players in decades.

Remember our goalie Michael Cooper, always highly rated but many think he’s injury prone.
We saw the opportunity of bringing in quality at a relatively low cost and took the risk.
Cooper was brilliant last season, this season he’s been very average but it seems he was injured.
So the jury is still out whether Cooper was a great signing or not.

Injury prone players are gambles but I suppose the club are thinking they could end up with another Didzy.

COH were dumb enough to bring him back and give him a contract until summer 27. Getting the appointment of Sellés so wrong will maybe have made them wary of another change like a significant number of the fans who are scared of change. The danger is we stand still which in any business means you go backwards. This is why I think Wilder will still be here next season, unfortunately.
After his 92pt season and this season post Sellés there is a growing number of fans who are sick of watching slow sideways football, barmy starting line-ups and substitutions. Add terrible JTW recruitment bringing in players who are not fit and old pro's who are past it with no resale value. A growing number are realising that the club is throwing money down the drain and is going nowhere everything is a short term fix. We can't even say the new training ground and Academy is coming on well, still no spades in the ground. Not hard to see why there is a growing air of apathy around Bramall lane.

I don't want Wilder to stay long term, but right now, I don't think we should get rid.
The owners gambled badly last season and they are fearful to do it again... and so am I. If the pull the trigger now and get it wrong again, we could be set back absolutely years.

The foundations of the club are still there... just. We have players of value that could be sold to help the rebuild, and i'm sure 2 or 3 will be.

Like him or not, Wilder DOES get the club and he DOES get results. He will (rightly) blame Selles' recruitment for not being able to mount a serious challenge this season, but now he enters last chance saloon - he has 3 summer months to weed out the bad and sign some good.
He will be judged by the owners this coming season and he knows that. It will be his squad and if we're not top 5/6 come Xmas, he'll be treading a fine line. I think if we're lower than that, and the owners back him in the summer, he is out of excuses.

I just hope he finds his mojo. We had a spell November to January where he released the handbrake and we were scoring for fun. I liked that spell. It was great and it felt like his mojo was back. We then got near the play offs and we retreated back into negativity - it's like he has this fear of losing when the pressure mounts which is counterproductive... just go out there and take it to the opposition. The players we have right now are good enough for a top 6 finish if the handbrake had been off all season. It wasn't and it was the negativity in games which ultimately saw us nowhere near... Next season i want the November-January Wilder, or even better - the 2016-2020 version.

We got key injuries and were fucked as we have about 12 decent players. When Jairo got injured we had one decent midfielder on the books. The youngsters have been ran.into the ground and it shows. If Bamford doesn't score...

I agree on your assessment of next season but for different reasons. Wilder is in his last year so a natural parting makes sense as he will assume the position.of 'fall guy'. He's the wall that all the mud of general.unhappiness with the club is aimed at.

The decent players we have will likely be cherry picked and the shite will remain sat on their exorbitant deals as nobody in their right mind will touch them. The scope to reshape is tiny even after the sales. We desperately need Campbell, Cooper and Arblaster to return to their beat levels at United. It's critical. The Davies signing seems to indicate we are banking on Cooper as the money isn't their to fix the GK position. As far as I know only Ryan One has any chance of stepping up from the academy.

It will be deluded fan expectations and the contract situation that does for Wilder. I'd go as far as saying only a top two finish (fantasy land) would save him. Anything else would be presented as failure as last season was(most didn't expect promotion due to pre season/takeover/transfer shit show) and this season was (survival was the aim post Selles/recruitment/fitness shitshow).

Somebody will have to take the blame...

The other trick they use is the laughing emoji which is again a way of trying to ridicule an opinion.

In reality it's a very poor attempt at elevating their opinions over others.

I noticed that one of the “resident half wits” to which you refer has had more interactions with this forum than you have ever had, despite the fact that you seem to live on here recently. Your arrogance does you no favours.

Totally agree. Leicester's plight is an example of where one poor managerial appointment can lead to another if your recruitment team don't know what they are doing.

Put simply, had CW gone there, after our incompetent decision to remove him, Leicester would be playing in the Championship next season.

But that's not good enough.

They should have been promoted straight back to PL, along with ourselves.

They have a DOF so how could this have happened?

Though he was appointed as a Foxy fox, which according to some is failure in the making.

The fact that they won the PL title under him is irrelevant, two successive relegations prove that you can never appoint anyone with connections from within your own club.

Or that appointing 3 managers within 14 months could have anything less than a positive outcome.
