What's keeping the failure wilder in a job?

Accepting and wanting are two totally different things.
I've accepted he's here next season it doesn't mean i want him gone any less.
Yes I know but even when we've won games I still see comments about how much of a wanker he is and we were lucky blah blah blah.

Back the team whoever the manager is. Then again someone on this forum said that Bamford is a prick and wouldn't celebrate any of his goals when he signed.

I had a conversation last week with someone who claimed to have been out with a member of staff at the club. So this is almost certainly just made up. But the general gist was Wilder has pretty much had enough of being in football, so whether he’s here or not in the future might end up having nothing to do with fans or the board.

He has a contract until Summer 2027….. he’ll be here until then as the owners are now scared shi&&&less of sacking him and making another catastrophic appointment. However, Wilder will need to achieve play offs next season minimum (top 8 now) or that will be the final chapter here as manager over.
Unless they start making restructure plans of the board next season we will be FUBAR'd as if the plan is just to see out the contract of Wilder without any plan for the future, who are we likely to attract in for his replacement. I guess we could promote a coach in from the club but they have no experience with recruitment, a lot of other managers will need buying out of contracts or will be in the same boat of being a head coach under a technical/football director. If current bottom 3 of the Premier League join us next season, and let's say Southampton get promoted. The table will probably look something like

Spurs
Burnley
Wolves
'Boro
Wrexham (big summer ahead for them too)
Millwall (if they can repeat this season)
Birmingham (big summer ahead for them too)
Potentially us
etc etc

We may have the chance of getting into 8th potentially higher depending on others, providing another team don't have a good summer/fluky signings or have a "double bounce" like Lincoln City or Cardiff City re-joining us. It's a huge summer ahead but also a huge summer behind the scenes too and I hope the board realise that.

Bit of a daft thread this.

There is already another one that's accumulated 35 pages about wanting Wilder out.

Brings nothing new to the table other than to have a pop at Wilder, Bettis and Danny Hall. (How anyone thinks Danny Hall makes any difference in our day to day running is beyond me)

We went from 23rd Nov to 28th Feb at 1.9PPG... I'm not so sure you can call that a purple patch - it's 43% of the season
You say this as though it's evidence against Wilder. He got a poor team to that level for that period. It doesn't mean we were always good enough to get top 6. You're having a go at him for doing well here.

So boring but they're hysterical so will only get worse over the summer.

Two things :

His sleazy "pally pally" mate Bettis!

The despicable " untruthful" Danny Hall!

Probably scared by the Selles appointment, or worse still looking across the city at your manager, who would make me look like an option?

When he was appointed, the minimum requirement was to keep us up. He did that, so he gets another season.

If we're not at least in the play offs next season, he'll go.

One think worth noting is that he's the only manager in the last 20 years to get promotion to the PL without parachute payments.

Yes, and with very little money. But it was some time ago and has he still got the knack of unearthing good, cheap youngsters?

The signs are worrying if I'm honest, but I'd allow him next season to try.

I don't necessarily think he or the players shit themselves and I'm still more siding with the idea that Nov-Jan was a purple patch that didn't represent the actual ability of the squad but it is interesting that it was the Boro game where he first started talking about last season and 92 points. I'm not sure if that game spooked him or whether the players just lost confidence but we haven't really played well since. Hopefully it is down to the players and not the manager thinking last seasons way of playing is in any way sustainable.
We played all the bad teams so we won most of them. When we started playing better teams, we stopped winning as many

I think a lot of blades don’t understand just how real a possibility relegation was this season. Without his signings of Bamford and Jairo I think we’d of been in a pretty big mess. His tally last season would’ve matched Coventry this season but we happened to be up against 2 100 point teams. Do people really not think he’s earned another go at it? Which manager is it you desperately want in? We’ve got a summer of sales and bargain buys on the horizon as we enter a period of financial uncertainty, is this the time to gamble on a new manager? Obvious choice to keep him in for me, don’t understand how it’s even a debate to be honest.
Totally agree. Leicester's plight is an example of where one poor managerial appointment can lead to another if your recruitment team don't know what they are doing.

Put simply, had CW gone there, after our incompetent decision to remove him, Leicester would be playing in the Championship next season.

I agree.

Well to remember though we were below Wednesday when he was appointed, with confidence absolutely shot. When we'd lost 8 of the first 9 games (from which position no team had not been relegated I believe) we would all have taken comfortable mid table by March

Hes not done brilliant, but he's done what he had to do, so he's earned another season.

Yep, it's just on this forum where he's despised. He must have been seen putting a Union Jack flag up outside his house or spotted with a Reform sticker in his car, that's all I can think of.
Like it or not, he lost the support of a few when he came out with his "lefties and do gooders" bullshit. Wasn't his smartest move, that.

I've never heard him say that - and it's a really stupid thing to say, especially in his position.

Maybe 19 years if we are splitting hairs as I can't remember Warnock being loaded with cash when he got promoted 20 years ago in 2006

Lampard, David Wagner maybe Alex Neil amongst a few others

He said it in an interview during the 20/21 season. Its been referred to on here several times over the years. He can hold whatever political beliefs he wants but, as you say, for someone in his position it was very stupid. Plenty slag Lineker off for the same thing.
