Very interested to hear people's thoughts on this.

If we were in Coventry's position, which we're not because we're hot shit at the moment and they're fucking wank, would you see tonight's actions from their fans as the way forward?

It was quite easy for me as a fan of the opposition to get frustrated with what they were doing, but I can't quite decide whether the way they were protesting was a good and just course of action.

So, would you do the same or similar? Are there better ways to go about this situation?

Apologies if people feel this is the wrong section. It's a hypothetical situation involving United, but not strictly about us.

Great win tonight, by the way. Could have been quite a different game.

Great question. Not sure is the answer.

My second team is Bristol Rovers and we got relegated to the conference a couple of years ago and lots of folks got involved in the pitch invasion but I didn't bother. I don't think I would go on the pitch, but at one point there was a dad their getting a pic with a player and his son, I may have done that instead as I'm a shameless fecker.

I'd sqweam and sqweam and sqweam until I was sick ..... like the rest of the McCabe out mob ;)

If I was a multi-millionaire I would not invest in my beloved Sheffield United - too risky. Fans need to realise that football has moved on from what it was 20 years ago, clubs are businesses, not passions now.

While I found the protests (especially those fucking whistles!) very annoying tonight, it's the nature of protest that it's inconvenient, even disruptive. That's the point. So while I don't always like it, or even agree with it, I prefer it to this trend of sanitised protest, where people can voice their objections on designated days in designated areas having filled out forms in triplicate.

I'd hope that the gates of hell would be unleashed and nothing would be off the table when it comes to comes to fighting for the clubs soul.

But Coventry has no soul, so fuck 'em.

It's a shame they chose to disrupt the game instead of delaying the kick-off, for example, as it backfired on them. But apart from that, I'd do what they did.

I'd have started a lot sooner (years ago, when it became obvious what was happening) and I wouldn't do something to the detriment of an innocent opposing team.

I'd also then realise why the away fans were taking the piss and fail to be outraged.

Can't answer that question until you define what "having your club back means"

Technically we don't have our club becuase McCabe owns it.
Wednesday fans have lost their club to a foreign Thai millionaire.
He's already made some unpopular decisions and doesn't seem that bothered about consulting fans
But surprise surprise.... becuase SWFC are doing well their fans turn a blind eye to the dictatorial way their club is being run.

The bottom line seems to be about position not ownership.

Coventry fans are hypocrites becuase if SISU took them into the PL there would be 25,000 at matches and no one would be bothered about ownership.

Put it this way if Coventry fans took control of their club by having fans on the board
But they lacked money and found themselves as a mid table league 2 side
Their gates would be down to 5,000 max becuase 5,000 is their hardcore support.

Why would we care about the result? We are already down barring a miracle.
Because this time last season we were as pissed as you guys, a good managerial appointment and now look!

No it isn't, my friend. You don't really appear to know much about football. Coventry's support has always been on par with Sheffield United's since attendances have been recorded.

I don't think its double standards.

If they just protested as they did early on it would be fine. It's that they used there protests by the end as a disguise for a blatant attempt to disrupt us and the game.

The whistles were annoying, fine but it was not by chance the referee style whistles started every time it could put our players off.

It wasn't by chance objects were thrown on the pitch when we had the momentum. Or that the ball would go missing.

So instead of finding a club who could largely relate and sympathise with them they have pissed alot of us off.

They can fuck right off.

In answer to the question if you really don't want to support the owners then STOP attending home matches. Some Leeds fans also don't like the owners so I believe they boycott home matches and only attend away matches

But guess what Coventrys away support is shite too.
That would be the best protest to have 5,000 home gates but selll out EVERY single away game.

Surely proper fans who love the club would go to away matches only

Exactly! Let's pay money to protest.

Thick. As. Fuck.

I was thinking exactly the same. As soon as attendances/gate receipts dry up, sponsorship revenue declined - that's when owners start sitting up and listening.

Paying £25 to any owner you want rid off seems ridiculous to me.

Paying £25 to protest is a parody in my eyes...

Do me a favour mate, try telling me what it is you're actually protesting about, whilst at the same time trying to derail the club I supports', promotion push?

Still don't get why the fans were allowed to get away with what they did - it was like the whole evening was a showcase to show the world all how disgruntled they were, more than a football match.
The whistling was ridiculous, but no attempt was made to stop it, and the pitch invastion, again was embarrassing in the numbers, but was allowed as if it was legitimately part of the evening's entertainment.
OK for Coventry fans that's what they wanted, but we didn't, as we were trying to play and win a football match..... but did that matter? Bizarre that no effort was made to stop it, really bizarre.

Well, it isn't. Good try again though. I believe we took more to you on a Sunday (noon KO, on Sky) in a worse position than you managed tonight.

I have always found Coventrys support embarassingly bad. A nothing club that might as well be a section of fog.

Well, yours must be as bad then, considering Sheffield United are the 19th best supported English club of all time and we are 20th.

Please cite your data mate. I've worked out averages since 1920 and our average is 3k higher :s

If United were in Cov's position any form of protest would be tut-tutted by the happy clappers in our support ... FACT!
