The recruitment in the summer was poor, the squad is so unbelievably unbalanced, lacking in depth, and low on creativity and pace. It is amazing how we have managed to downgrade the squad so significantly. This all largely lies with the owners, IMO. Wilder's tactics are of course not beyond question, but he is also left polishing a turd of a squad the moment.
I've seen plenty of complaints - quite rightly - but we have what we have, in terms of squad, until January. So my question is this: what tactical tweaks would you want to see now, to try and get a bit more out of this squad?
For me, I'd go with:
1. Tanganga to CB. Play one of the league's best CBs in his natural position. In fact, stop playing anyone out of position.
2. Go to a back 4. Not this weird 4/5 hybrid with Tanganga and Ogbene doubling up as RB/RWB.
3. Bring Seriki back into the XI.
4. Go with two up top. We have one quality forward, the others are not in-form, young, and at the end of their career. Just rotate the four of them as much as possible, in the hope of getting a tune out of them.
5. Likewise, at centre mid, Soumare looking somewhat brighter aside, the rest are not in form. Use the subs well to rotate Peck, Soumare, Matos, Riedewald. Keep as much energy in a lacklustre squad as possible.
6. So, play 4-2-2-2. Use O'Hare and one other behind the front two. Ogbene, Brooks, whomever. Be more direct, get runners, get the press, get balls in to the two forwards.
7. Lastly, but most importantly, come what may - Out run. Out fight. Out play. Get some of that back for the love o
