A lot of people expect different things out of each season, so i ask with a full pre season to prepare with no playoff finals to get over and a season to learn from mistakes. What do you as a blade expect out of this season? Not what you think we will achieve but what you think we should be achieving.

So i will start by saying this division is there for the taking so PROMOTION.

play some half decent football i can be proud of.. if you do that you'll end up top six anyway

Now there you have the problem in a nutshell. You've said recently that with the squad/manager we have you think we'll finish around 12th yet you expect promotion.

The division is wide open and it's within our capabilities to get involved at the top end. Does the club deserve to be up there and will they live up to the fans expectations, that's another story. I very much doubt whether we're in the top 6 budget wise so with that in mind, you could argue that we shouldn't expect the play-offs and your prediciton of 12th is more realistic.

Playoffs could mean promotion. I based the 12th prediction on mainly the manager and negative tactics.

Last Season 7 away trips for me, 1 postponed, 5 defeats and 1 draw, so 3 points on the road would be an improvement.

But to be honest, less of the "keep it tight and try to nick one" and more of the "up and at em"

For me a successful season would be mostly revolve around off the field stuff. The economy and construction indusry picking up and/or McCabe finding a buyer and Blackwell being removed from position (maybe to be replaced with Speed).

To keep our key players, get kep players fit and play some attacking football would all be success for me. Ultimately a successful season would be promotion, although I feel that to be a completely unrealistic expectation.

I'm really not bothered too much about promotion this season. I'd see it as a success if we successfully introduce some academy graduates into the first team (and then keep hold of them)

I think a successful away game would be, me not being comatose after 20 minutes, and Blackwell not shrugging his shoulders.

We dont have to win every game, we should be competing in every game, last season Blackwell didn`t.

And I specifically have Peterboro` away in mind, a fine day out, followed by a good night out, and then the match.

To have a settled side, use our youth players in aid of their development and to just be a better side than we were alot of the time last year.

Promotion is a bonus and would be nice, but I don't expect it.

A successful season for me would be to get promoted - dont care how, dont care who's in charge, just that it gets done. Fuck the recession and all this shit about mccabe selling, i couldnt care less about property prices going up, mccabes gonna sell with or without the debt at no major downfall to us anyway. To make this club worth buying we need to be in the prem, simple. If we get bought we need some one with alot of cash and a good plan.

Anything involving some youth players making the grade and no major disappointment. I'd be happier finishing 8th if we'd been around 8th all season than if we were top at Christmas then fell away.

Some of the players proving the doubters wrong (Montgomery, Evans, Taylor) would be nice too.

Realistically, I think we could finish anywhere from 4th to 14th.

In my mind there are two different sides to this and two answers that I agree with.

1) looking at the other teams in this league there is not one that I think will walk it, although Boro are probably a good shout for one of the automatic spots, we 'should' be in the play offs and pushing he top two. Anything less than play offs will probably be classed as a failure by most fans.

2) try to play a bit of football with a settled squad (of our own) with players who want to be at this club and as long as we aren't in a relegation scrap I will be happy - with a view to giving us a solid base to move on from.

Not sure which is really correct to most people??

Success for me would be one or more of:

1. Playing "proper football" and trying to win EVERY game (i.e. not going away trying not to lose and hoping to sneak a goal). I believe if we acheive this we will get results as well as plaudits.
2. Introducing our own youngsters into the team and playing in a proper way. This may result in a learning curve and not as good results BUT will give hope for the future.
3. Acheiving promotion through any means. Dull, negative, grinding out of results BUT if we go up it'll have been a means to an end. As I'm NRS it won't disturb me as in the past.

For me..........

We improve as the season goes on whilst maintaining good home form. Steady improvement that culminates in us pinching a playoff spot. That is the best we can hope for IMO.

We have a lot of work to do but the above is achievable with a bit of luck and application.

Success for me doesn't only depend on final league standing but what we did in getting there, for instance:

i will accept 15th-18th if it was due to us bedding in a number of youth players who we can keep for the future and build a team round for the following season and also if, in the process of doing this, we turn around our styles of football and there is a visible improvement in the style and a sense of real optimism...not just RAW optimism!

If we dont use it as a rebuilding year to try out youth talent, then will the squad we have, i realistically expect us to achieve around 10-12 again as i just dont see enough talent and perhaps more importantly, depth to last out a successful season.

Of course, who knows...maybe Ched will be top scorer? (RAWW optimism...)
