What was Jim Phipps about to announce?

Word is we are changing our colours, changing our nickname to "Scimitars" from "Blades" and that our new sponsors are sand importers in Saudi Arabia. The subtext is the sponsorship is entirely genuine and in line with true market forces, and in no way an obvious means of falsely inflating our top line income for FFP purposes. Apparently Saudi needs to import certain types of sand for construction purposes and KM sells a lot of sand to them.

LETS GET RIGHT ON IT. WHOOP DE DO, APPLES AND PEARS!

He was about to announce his sex change goes ahead before the game Wednesday and from Thursday morning he would like to be known as Betty Phipps and his wedding to "a Saudi prince" will be mid summer in brazil for easier acclimatisation to his new body parts :)

He was introducing someone called Dominic who is MD (?) of Shout.tv.

I don't know what this app actually is but the important thing is it's a sponsorship, so it's more money into the club.

More sponsorship money means a better chance of keeping the Beard, so it's a good thing.

Could be something or nothing, but my sister spotted Kev McCabe Saturday night in the Copthorne whilst she was browsing at their wedding packages. Apparently he was with quite a few Chinese chaps and was also with Selahattin Bakhi. Perhaps some further investment from the Asia region? I recall the Prince promising that further sponsorship would follow...

I want him on the pitch at half time at Wembley 'Calling all blades fans......lets be avin you'

Here's the big news

@JamesDPhipps: Sorry we couldn't make the promised announcement. Here goes: A Blades fan will win a Ducati Monster 796 on our 22 March/125th anniversary.

Is that for real? Like others, I was hoping it was about more investment.

Did anyone catch his Delia moment? I want "We got this!" as my message-tone. What a legend.

Sorry, I thought it was all a bit unnecessary and embarrassing to be honest.
Particularly as the “exciting news” turned out to be some sort of glorified raffle...

“Look the Emperor has no clothes” and all that...

The guy is a credit to our club - the missing link between fans and directors. It's not like he is some charlatan, grabbing the spotlight in the good times having hidden away in the shadows during the bad. And neither is he some embarrassing, wine-addled shrieker. He got taken by the moment, proud of the achievements and wanted to thank the fans.

Sometimes I think our fans are happier when they're moaning. And that's what I find embarrassing.

Is that a motorbike? Well that's one way of reducing the number of Blades in the world….

:)

I don’t think it’s excessive moaning to point out that there is a time and place for making announcements about motorbike raffles and dropping vague hints about sponsorship deals.
A few seconds before the second half of a FA Cup Quarter Final is definitely the wrong time and the wrong place.
All credit to Jim Phipps for communicating with fans. “Doing a Delia” is ill-advised in my opinion and I don’t see a problem with querying it.

I know what you're saying but when there's 25,000 Blades fans sat happily in the sunshine, even with hindsight not kicking you, why knock him? He clearly thought it was exciting news. You didn't. Either way, it's not going to win or lose a game. I don't see a problem letting the feller have his moment, in my opinion.

Awesome prize to give away IMO, I definitely want it!

I also saw a tweet from him about the club giving away £125 a day, I think it said for at least 125 days?

EDIT - Yep,
