What to do at home

Blade too long, I know you've set out to outweigh the negativity and criticism on this forum with some spectacular positivity. Fair enough, maybe it's needed at times.

But you must also understand that not all supporters can be like you, just leaning back and patiently watch as it all comes together and Wilson leads us to a fabulous and expected promotion. I enjoy being excited, nervous, critical and disappointed, it's all part of being a football fan for me. I have my views on how football should be played and I want to discuss what we could be doing better, how we can improve.

Whilst it is certainly true that the result of winning all the away games counter balances the draws at home, what it doesn't do is encourage paying customers through the gates at BDTBL.
If we could up the home results (and in some cases performance) then this would have a knock on at the gate eventually. A 1k increase in gate (at say £15 per head) would, perhaps (not that I know what wages any of the players are getting yada yada yada etc.), pay the wages of 1 or 2 players outright and would boost the, all important, turnover when next seasons wage limit is set.

Tinker away Danny, let's get more people to shell out their hard earned.

I am sort of half way between Swiss' opinion and the others. Had we kept out concentration and not made silly individual mistakes against Oldham and County then we'd be breathing down Tranmere's neck and not complaining at all. Wilson is cleary trying to build some kind of Charlton last year success. That is be rock solid and nick games. This is fine, but we have to cut out the errors. Because one individual mistake and we draw the game (which has happened several times).

That said, I would like to see us be a bit more attacking at home. Especially when we get ahead. We do not need to go gun ho and open oursleves up. However we can hit teams on the counter. We should be looking to use the pace of Miller, Blackman and/or Cofie when we get ahead. Really stretch their defences. I wuld like to see Wilson play with 2 wingers too (if possible).

In short: cut out the individual errors and keep our concentration for 98mins and be more clinical in front of goal. These are somewhat dictatated by exogenous factors, so tactically I would like us to put the game to bed whilst we are 1 nowt up. If not, keep your shape and your concentration and do not let them have any chances!

Bloody hell Ollessendro - that's verging on sensible.

I'd love to see United push the defensive line up 5-10 yards after we score as we seem to invariably drop too deep. We also need to move the ball a bit quicker but there are signs that the team is gelling.

at the start of the season we all decided that promotion form was 2 points per game
win at home draw away
except we seem to have it backwards

Kitson might have recovered from his bout of sickness from Satfi but if not them I would like to see Miller given the chance to shine early doors. I suspect that Danny will keep the same team and replace Kitson with Porter if the ginja ninja isn't fit enough to start. Porter has performed well in the last two matches so that will be relatively seamless - Danny is not one for wholesale changes unless forced to do so. If so I suspect that he will introduce Miller later on for McAlistair in all probability.

Prediction for tonight is a 2-0 home win.
Yes, the first time we have scored more than one at home in a league game other then Bournemouth

The problem that i see with moving the defensive line up is that we don't have the pace in the back four, so perhaps we stay deep to counter the lack of pace... just a theory.

We do need to move the ball quicker and forward. Against Oldham I thought that we played very Robson-esque sideways football... it wasn't effective and it didn't get us anywhere.

I did think that after I'd posted it but it can work; we'd just need to press in midfield and up front to stop the opposition having time to aim long balls over the top. The problem is that we're not doing that consistently.

I haven't seen us enough to know how quick strikers are in this division. I would guess though that there will be many who are quicker than our back four.

I think it could work, but I don't think we'd get much for it. We're still going to get sides trying to counter attack us if we push up and press them. Not saying that we shouldn't press teams, but as Ollie said, if we make ourselves a tough side to beat and try to eradicate the individual feck ups, then we're halfway there. I am pretty sure that this is currently Wilsons aim.

The other thing is, that I think Wilson has looked at the top two and thought, they won't sustain it up top. Tranmere could be on a wobble now and we're being patient. So its a very cautious and prudent approach so far, keep consistent and watch the top two drop off. Once we're in a position of strength then perhaps we'll start to turn the screw.

This is why we don't currently need to change much....

I think we need to remember our team was bobar for the 1st half of last year, and really we are no different this year apart from we are unbeaten. I think we will get better as the season goes on and if we do manage to get a 2nd goal tonight I feel the team will relax and get a few more. Just need to get over the 1 goal hump for the players to relax

That is all very true and while I think we're better going forwards than defending I appreciate the need to keep it tight at the back.

What I'd like to see is United taking an early lead at home (10-20 mins) and not concede immediately. Since we beat Shrewsbury (McAllister on 4 mins) we've not done that; the closest we've come is Bury but then we condeded within 2 mins of scoring. Let's force the opposition to chase the game for 70+ minutes; we'd surely have chances to put a few goals away.

Whatever is needed he will sort out, I trust him to do it He didn't do anything last year when needed so I doubt he will change this season
No judge will be removing his star striker this time out Just KM selling him on deadline day in April
No one is out scoring us , so its half way there already
We out scored everyone last season but we still came 3rd and lost in the PO final
