It's our first away point after a run of 8 straight away league defeats. And it was away to the team in second.

It was a good point, which only goes to show how utterly shit Weir was. Morgan is hardly Alec Ferguson, but he now has only 1 less point in 3 games then Weir got in 10.

IMO football is,. and has always been about making a game c hanging pass. Long.,short, but never indifferent,
It is not hoof to complete a cross field pass that puts you on the offensive.
If only our 'hoofers' had their boots on the right feet, we could perhaps mix things up and compete with the best of them

A team is always more vulnerable immediately after they've lost the ball in their own first third of the pitch, and when they are being forced to defend facing their own goal. It's important to take advantage of that.

What I noticed was, after Mikhitaryan scored Dortmund's first the No. 29 (Schmelzer) ran up to him and was obviously making some complex tactical point (probably 'make your runs this way'?).

No whoopin' & hollerin, no demolishing the corner flag and certainly no naff 'heart' sign to the cameras.

To play slick passing football involving your back 4 and midfield we need about 6 new players. I hope the board are prepared to pay for the players Clough needs OR Clough is happy to transition to a new style of playing over a period of time and in that transition he starts with the back 4 - 2 fullbacks and a centre half, all who can keep the ball and have pace.

You have a point and make it well. I'm not sure we need six. Are you including midfielders? I think Baxter, Cuvelier and Coady will blossom under the right management.

But we didn't hoof it against Vale. We played in a similar 'style' (for want of a better word - I'm a bit fed up of some of the black & white arguments on here) as we have done for most of the season.

For me the difference was the formation, better movement and getting the ball out wide more, but we passed it pretty well. Weir's 'style' was not the problem, it was the execution and pace, and the lack of flexibility about a 1 up-front approach not working with this set of players.

You can play 4-4-2 and still pass the ball well (as we did under Wilson in his first season especially).
