Middlesbrough win 2 0 today and against Preston next week and we draw 0 0 to Fulham? We then have the same points, goals for and goals against. Does it go on our results against them this season?

With Forest and Bournemouth it could be the same. Bournemouth beat Forest 2 1 earlier this season. So if the scored is reversed when they meet in midweek and then they finish level on points, goal difference and goals for an against- Bournemouth go up due to alphabetical order!

No, they'd go to a play off. See a bit further down on same screenshot.

If Boro win by one and we draw 1-1 next week, we finish ahead.

If they win by 2 and we draw , but us to finish ahead we need to score at least one fewer goal in out draw to be ahead on head to head. Otherwise Boro finish ahead on goals scored.

so
2-0, 0-0 Boro
2-0 1-1 United
3-1 1-1 Boro
3-1 2-2 United

etc

If they win by three and we draw they get the play off place

I think we should apply for a late rules change to that in Italy, head-to head comes first there.

7 out of 9 possible combination of results we get in the POs
U Win M win = United
U win M draw = United
U win M lose = United
U draw M Win = depends see above
U draw M draw = United
U draw M lose = United
U lose M win = Boro
U lose M draw = United
U lose M lose = United (if Millwall don't win and make up the GD)

You make it seem like we’ve got a good chance, this is Sheffield United and even if we do get into the playoffs.. you know the rest..

Bit on Preston who Boro have to beat by two clear goals if Blades only draw and even then it depends on by how much we draw:

Home record P22 W8 D10 L4
Lost at home - 4 Hull 1-4, Cardiff 1-2, Reading 2-3, Blackburn 1-4
Lost by 2 clear goals - Hull 1-4, Blackpool 0-2, Forest 0-3, Luton 0-4, Fulham 0-3, Blackburn 1-4
Lost by 2 clear goals at home - Hull 1-4, Blackburn 1-4
Vs Boro Won 2-1 away

So they don't often lost at home. 4/22 is only 18%. Only Bournemouth and West Brom have lost fewer home games (3). We have lost 5 and so have Fulham.

Aside from the freak opening day against Hull, their only 2 goals home defeat was Blackburn in the local derby.

I don't think it is a foregone conclusion that Boro actually win, plus the fact their last home defeat was the 4-1 by local rivald surely puts into their mind a need to make amends with the home fans. Just come off a 3-1 win away at Barnsley, a fixture Boro lost 3-2.

Focus on ourselves but let's not overrate Boro either. Yes Wilder will do his job, but so will Preston who, whilst they draw plenty at home, don't often lose. A draw is no good for Boro. Easy to get wrapped up in goals but a draw for them and they're still in the rear view mirror.

I feel stressed but this is helping...

Yes but what you failed to mention was that 4-1 defeat against Blackburn was their last home match.
Yes they won yesterday at a poor already relegated Barnsley.
Sorry but I am a half empty kind of guy. 😆

if Luton lose both their last 2 us and boro can go up
my thoughts too... 2 teams out of Luton/Boro/Blades will get into the playoffs. Us and Luton are most likely (and i'd say they are favourites over us only by a whisker), followed by Boro as least favourites

Fulham are going to smash Luton on Monday, then Mitro is going to get Richard Stearmaned with a few others letting us get a surprisingly comfortable 1-0 home win.
