I know we released him about a year and a half ago, but does anyone know if he's still playing football (just in the lower leagues)? Or has he fully retired? What an absolute legend he was anyway!

His knees were buggered... so I doubt he's still playing anywhere.

The word 'legend' is much overused these days.

Nice lad with a great attitude - yes.

Legend - no

Top lad, yes. Legend? Of sorts! But how many legends do you know who would ask for Robbie Keane's shirt "for mi sister" only to be offered his shorts, which he gladly took leaving RK to finish his warm-down in his undercrackers? :D

Id say unsung hero rather than legend.

Could of been a legend outright had he not had an unfortunate run of injury's but you cant fault his performance and commitment when he did play.

He had to retire through injury same as Chris Armstrong. Its unfortunate both of their careers have been cut short through serious injury as Id of liked to have seen them still play for us.

think he changed his name to derek and moved back to ireland

A nicer bloke you could not wish to meet.

I'm with Broomers though. Legend used too much.
Great Pro - Blade for Life - Sorry he had to reture with so much potential left - God we could have done with a fit Geary this season.

Wish him all the best and thanks for all the fish.

Was walking past shirecliffe training ground, the top pitch near shirecliffe road and i see Geary having a kick around with 2 players from the youth squad i think. I stops and shouts "Geary Geary". He looks up and waves and i walk on feeling great, but a bit of a twat.

On one of his roads to recovery I saw him up there riding around on a bike with Speed and Naysmith. It looked like he'd borrowed his big brother's bike.

When we played pre-season games at Sandy Lane ,he was warming up and talking to the kids who were all scrounging for his shirt after the game. My lad said took his top off and showed him Geary on the back of his shirt. He sought us out at the end of the game and asked to meet him in the car park where he gave him his top and training gear.
My lad had actually got Geary on his away kit and Quinn on his home to wind the pigs up.

he was great for us and a good lad-shame he was off loaded,i`ll always remember him for his goal away at milwall.
And i wouldnt want him tackling my ankles either.
legend.

Oh, how we've missed a player with as much heart as Del Boy. An extremely popular player with the fans. Always gave 100%. Sorely missed IMO. I hope the lad's doing well for himself.

Does anyone remember in the Premiership (06-07 season) when we played Man u. Geary gave Ronaldo a good game. Epsecially that bit when he knocked him into the stands!

>It looked like he'd borrowed his big brother's bike
hence the problem with the knees then?
