What goes through their heads?

Paul Scholes did the same thing in a Champions League match a few years ago so its not unheard of at the highest level. You can only put it down to human nature and panicking with a lack of composure. The lower level you are the more often it happens unsurprisingly.

He's young and will do stupid things like that, although things like this are particularly odd.

He will learn from it though, I hope.

You might as well ask What goes through flies head as it hits the windscreen.......?

It's bollox

What, LYDON told it me in a PM

I think they feel the push in their back and worry the ref won't give it. If the ref doesn't give the foul, the man behind may have a free header. So they gamble and think if i handball it and emphasise the push, the ref will give the foul and the offender will never get to head it.

So basically, it's because they're thick.

Fashnu did it too but that was a case of what went through his pockets;) some say

On the goal line with a ball on its way into the net maybe

Is it ever worth it then? A man sent off and a penalty v being a goal down?

If the saved shot would be the deciding goal in the last second of the game, with no time for a restart, then maybe.

Suarez did it v Ghana and it got them through as Ghana missed the pen.

Only thing I could think of when McEv did it was that he thought he'd heard the whistle go, so I'm going to re-use that here.

Maybe we sign players with dog blood which makes them sensitive to whistles from far away?

Stupid, stupid boy.

Maradona did it and look how that turned out

Jags unbelievably did it. McEverly also did it but we thought he was just a useless two hat and now this.

On the goal line with a ball on its way into the net maybe, but why do this with minutes to go?

O'Connell needs to give his head a good shake. Now directly responsible for 3 of the last 5 goals we have conceded. This tops the lot.

Come on Barney, he's not seven years old, had been Captain at Rochdale hadn't he ?

Bill Foulkes once caught the ball in the area against Wolves, and then threw it to the ref to put on the spot

Here is an explanation for you.

He didn't go up to hand ball it.

He has however received a push in the back. A push as he was jumping in the air causing him to lose balance. His natural reaction was to try and regain balance, and in this case raised his arm up higher. Arms go up as they jump to help leverage, and of course to protect their faces etc.

But anyone thinking it was done intentionally is being a bit of a twat.

Never let a plausible explanation get in the way of slagging off a Blades player

That's a blatant shove in his back
If that had been a prem game I think the ref would've given a foul
He's obviously off balance

I think our midfield proves Newton knows fuckall about Motion
I think his first law shows he knows quite a bit about our midfield.

Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. It may be seen as a statement about inertia, that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion.

Which means Wilder needs to kick them up the arse to get owt out of them.
