A new look back 4 should give WBA something to think about. Quite looking forward to seeing Alfie at CB and hopefully Seriki getting a start. Would also love to see us having a go from the off and less back four playing it to each other. 2-0 Blades, would love to see it 6-0 though!!

6-0 ? Did you post directly from your happy dream ? 🤣

The absence of our first choice twin CBs will be an inspiration to WBA.

I reckon we are bound to concede so I do agree with you that we must employ attack as the best form of defence in order to take any points.

I hope it's Seriki and not Shackleton at RB , to get some proper wing play.

I would rest Peck and start Davies - can always bring Peck on if Davies tires.

Burrows at LB and if Brooks comes on FFS let him be on the L side.

It's about time for Hamer to step up and take hold of a game - don't want to see him outshone by Alex Mowatt.

And keep the discipline.

Tough fixture this , they have some useful attackers - Blades all need to be on it to get something.

Also the prospect of playing "catch up" if the rivals have won - different psychology to last Friday.

a point wouldnt be a bad result here but dont think weve anything to worry about if we play our game they will come at us and that will suit our counter attacking play

If I keep predicting 6-0, one day I'll be right. Call it a long term strategy or I'll take a happy dream

Are you suggesting "our game" is inviting them onto us so we can play on the counter ?

Two things I'd like to see if we go that route :

If Coops gathers the ball and they were all on attack , an instant throw out to JRS or whoever we have available upfield - he didnt do this last Friday but waited for all Mackems to get back.

If that's not on , at least make our transition faster to take advantage - don't keep reverting to tippytappy in our own half, on the odd occasions where opposition has left gaps to exploit

Reckon we should be looking for a win here, rather than setting up for a draw like we did at Leeds.

Our away form is 5th best in the league; their home form is 4th worst - only 2 wins from 8 games at home so far, and those 8 games have seen only 7 goals scored in total (Cheers to Beans and Roygbiv for that stat during my BladesPod catchup this morning)

I'd like to see us try and play on the front foot. We've got to play with a relatively makeshift defence, so ideally we won't have to rely on it too much. The lads did great against Sunderland, but I think that was at least partly due to Sunderland not having enough options on the bench to maintain the threat they had in the first half). They haven't been firing at home so far, but they're the second-best away team to date, so they aren't a bad team by any means, and in Josh Maja they have the 2nd highest goalscorer in the league.

Our current first-choice attacking players are still fit, so we should look to utilise them to force WBA back, keep a high press, make the home crowd anxious, and see if we can make that spread to the players on the pitch. Aim to get an early goal and then drive home that advantage.

have faith in Sooper Cooper.

I agree we should not set up for a draw because in the past we have tended to lose momentum with that strategy.
I don't mind us playing on the counter but that involves moving up the pitch a bit quicker than our normal slow build-up.

Going to be a tight game, West Brom have recently become kings of the 0-0 draw with 5 0-0's in their last 10 league matches.

I'm normally quite optimistic but think we are overdue a defeat. I'd take a draw but think we'll lose 1-0.

As it's 9 sleeps between the Sunderland and West Brom games it feels like we're on another international break

I'm bored

What makes you think we are bound to concede? Albion have only scored 5 at home all season.

As posted in other thread, WBA have scored the least amount of goals of any team in top 12.

Even pigs have scored more.

Nothing to fear, bring it onnnnnn! 🔥
Not gonna lie this surprised me a lot with Maja being one of the top scorers in the league. Imagine what they’d do without him

well it has to be the only tactic were using in the first 45 minutes of every game the way we play so slowly and tip tapping it about in our own half we certainly dont go after teams from the off

Goals heatmap shows we score most of our goals fairly early in each half

I just read the View From (cheers Roygbiv ) and was surprised to see they're on a run of 1 win in 12. They have drawn 9 of their last 10 and are unbeaten in that run, their last defeat coming on October 1st.

We don't score many and concede very few. They don't score or concede many. Not sure this will be a high scoring thriller.
