Well Done Simon Moore

Maybe won us the game tonight. Off the bench, freezing cold and saves a penalty when they were looking like getting back into it. Well done Simon lad......

Oh, and well done Billy on the goals and the wind ups :)

Was a cracking penno save, however I do think he should have done much better with their free kick. Comfortably got across, yet palmed it straight back out into the danger area.

I know both have their flaws, but how nice is it to have 2 keepers who are pretty much reliable? My personal preference is Blackman (just), but absolutely understand those who prefer Moore. Basically, if one is out, I’m more than comfortable with the other. The thought of Eastwood having to come in doesn't fill me with dread either. Its a far cry from the dark days of Simonsen et al.

Is that 2 poor penalty's now conceded from Stearman the last v Villa away. Reading at this point we're going for the equaliser but for a brilliant penalty save thanks to Simon Moore.

Well done tonight Blades.

I think tonight's penalty could be classed as a poor one......cos it never was one in a million years.
It wasn't the quickest of turns by Stearman, but their man just ran into him, fell over and then stayed motionless until the ref finally decided to blow for it.

If that was a penalty John Terry gives away four or five a game. Exactly what defenders do - get between man and ball and stop.

Ref was awful all ends up - several obviously real bookings missed for pulling back, then Bash booked just for saying their bloke dived, when he did. Mind you I’m not a lip reader and I expect the complaint was in full on Geordie speak!

The Magic Moves On Again

Should have done better for the goal but more than made up for it with the same. Wasn't a poor pen from their player

Moore gives too much of the goal to aim at then struggles to get across.
Ask ricky holmes last year

great save for the pen...agreed,
but that only contra'd the fact he spilled a straight forward save from the free kick. If the pen had gone in could have all been very different. I would rather rely on him getting the straight forward stuff right rather than hoping he pulls a miracle save from a pen

Blackman for me is the preference ..just my opinion

Could see how pleased he was at the end.

The result was never in doubt after that penalty save, neither was an imminent 3rd goal. It was a great few minutes for us.

This.

Should have gone out and towards the corner flag, and he will know that.

But redeemed via pen save and all’s well that ends well :)

He did well, fooled the penalty taker he dummied left than went right. That said in the last few games Blackman has come in in leaps and bounds and I think he will be straight back in when he's fit.
Didn't understand what happened to Blackman with injury, he looked fine then kicked ball out so Clarke could get treatment, next thing he's barely able to walk off.

Think we are being a bit harsh on his save then goal. The ground was obviously hard and the bounce vicious. What was worrying watching the reply is that their player was stood totally unmarked on the left and followed in unchallenged.

The ball never bounced.

Blackman has been excellent since he came back in, making a number of crucial saves.....including last night. Blackie for me.

The one at Villa was a terrible decision, I don’t blame Stearman for that at all.

Why would John Terry give a penalty against himself?! Apparently he reffed it beautifully on Saturday and gave villa 16 free kicks against the Pork's 1!
I would put him up their with Shearer and Gerrard in terms of world class player/refs...

I'm going to wait for the in goal camera to show us how good the efforts were (hopefully they will I know they always show our goals from behind the keeper).

a couple of weeks ago i posted something along the lines of 'when did our keeper last win us the game' and that i didn't think they were making a difference. That is how a keeper makes a difference. that was a season (not game) defining save. if they'd have got 2-2 the season could have crashed right there.

Teddy Sheringham, he was another one.

Similar to Northampton at home last season SP.

If Reading's penalty is the benchmark ......... then we've missed out on about 30 penalties this year ...... so far o_O:rolleyes:

The other noteworthy point about the lead up to Reading's goal was that Moore was still down on one knee. I find that surprising, given how many drills keepers do on getting up quickly - he could have saved the shot if he had been on his feet.

That was my point Punk Blade. Is Stearman under the beady eye of the officials because as you say the villa penalty decision was too harsh in my opinion. Having seen the one at Reading I have to say that too looked iffy.
