Desperate times for you guys, but you can't keep sacking managers, surely?

I can hardly believe your bad start to the season - incredible.

We can't go down on a principle of not sacking another manage either.

The job needs a better voice if the club going to go anywhere

Agreed 5 good players in Brandy, Mcginn ,Coady ,Cuvelier and Baxter but whats the point in buying players who can take players on and make killer passes and then restrict them to making 5 yard sideway balls ?
the problem that they have is that they still have to carry Porter, Flynn, Murphy, Macmahon and Doyle

You've claimed he is weak manager and lost the dressing room.

This is a line we've heard time and time again when fans want the manager changed.
Exactly what is this opinion based on?
total lack of team spirit and passion.. we have no balls.. mourinho's players would die for him.. i have a mate who is a mad Celtic fan .. he was apoplectic when i told him Weir was the United manager

If we have that much money, can't we first of all pay the shit off?

And play 5 a side? Because thats all we have that is any better than relegation.

The reason we are where we are is all the chopping and changing. Fans panic and it spreads like a disease. Fans reactions and McCabes idiocy are why we sacked Blackwell, its why we sacked Wilson. Yes, change end of season but not at the start or at the end.

I actually think the guy is doomed. Wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time. Next person who gets the job will have money to spend.

Many of our fans just want to see a bloke kicking bottles on the touchline because it shows passion apparently. There is so much wrong at BDTBL right now a change of Manager really isn't the solution. If so what do we do, keep changing every 7 games until we find a bloke we like?

Finally, who would come in? We sack Weir and do what? Bring Danny Wilson back? Perhaps Warnock back? Christ knows who else. Weir is our manager because our first choices all turned us down. Has anything really changed (apart from our league position) to make us an attractive option? Yeah, yeah the apparent money but have we actually seen any of it yet?

Actually, come to think of it thats the biggest question. Figurehead new man in but he has spent a quid on the club and thats it. Mmmmmmmm

we are playing with five players 'now'.. we have 11 shirts on the pitch but only half of them are actually contributing.. recap.. we sacked blackwell because the team played dull defensive crap but won most of the time.. we sacked wilson because we played dull defensive crap but won most of the time.. we have weir who has us playing dull defensive crap but.. hold on a minute

Why are people wanting to give him longer? What are they expecting is suddenly going to happen?

Quite. Personal pride should tell DW he isn't up to this management lark.

It's imperative that we don't blow this historically-momentous time (the funding) with having an inept manager trying (and failing) to learn on the job.

Talk such as 'we can't keep changing managers' and 'who would come in ?' shouldn't be a reason to stick with a guy who will go down in Blades history as being as poor as Martin Peters and Bryan Robson.

Remember, it's not our fault that we've got this managerial merry-go-round. We're the most patient fans in football. It's down to piss-poor recruitment at the highest level. Obviously, there's no guarantee a new bloke would put it right, but what is guaranteed is, stick with DW and we're heading for plummeting crowds, shite 'football' and Division 4.

Next up, Preston. Yesterday they and Stevenage created 35 chances in their match. Think a DW-led 'team' will create 35 chances before the end of the season? Me neither.

Weir has got to have a change of approach, ok we are playing nice tippy tappy football but it is ineffective football. before Pinchy jumps in to say we love hoof I think what we want to see is effective attacking PASSING football from the Blades. Even under Colin we played some great football and he was labelled a hoof merchant, the thing was we mixed it up a bit and played without fear a lot of the time. At the moment sad to say Weir is being far too rigid in his tactics even though they clearly are not working, in fact he is fast becoming a Bryan Robson Mk2 passing 20 times across the back four is utter shite as is pulling every player back to defend corners ffs leave a man forward the other team then keeps 2 men back to mark him it is not rocket science. This guy is turning out to be even more negative than Wilson if that is possible or more of a scared pussy with no balls.
p.s credit Keith Edwards for saying on air what the majority of fans are thinking.

Got to agree with this. There seemed to be a change in the fans' attitude at the game yesterday. There seemed to be a pulling away of creating a scapegoat out of one of the players and instead started questioning what Weir was doing to the team.

The crowd were remarkably patient yesterday bearing in mind the shit that was on display but is was patently obvious that the players were following the manager's instructions. There were a few sarcastic chants but there was more disbelief at what we were seeing.

I felt sorry for Ironside,on his own up front no support from any of the four central midfield players(Baxter,McGinn,Culivier and Doyle all wanted to play on the same space) and it was difficult for anyone to pass the ball forward as there was no one to pass to.

The players looked like they didn't understand the system and didn't know how to create chances. When Callum came on we showed more intent but because Ironside had been taken off,we were still aiming at one player surrounded by 3 defenders. To instruct all the players to come back to defend a corner with 10 minutes to go when we are one nil down is staggering .

Weir's comments after the game appears to suggest he doesn't know how to deal with the problem. He has been backed by the board and brought in a lot of players. Should we sack him ? Depends if he is prepared to compromise to ensure we get results. He has made a mistake by relying on inexperienced youngsters and some times some older heads are required. The fact we had one of the best defensive records in the league last season and yet we are still to keep a clean sheet in the league this season speak volumes.

The players aren't to blame for this mess as they are doing what the manager is telling them to go. The commitment is there but the players are obviously uncomfortable with the style of play and appear to be now reluctant to get on the ball. This is not their fault,it is down to the manager and he now needs to step up and adapt the style of play to ensure we progress this season.

As it stands now,can any of us see us getting the 12-14 wins we need to stay up ?

And please tell me that after seven games that is reasonable. Also you could look at it as we shouldnt have sacked either of the aforementioned when we did.

I realise that the baying public will get what they want but it will only lead to even more pain. I can only assume that some get a kick out of the drama.

Is Wier deluded?
He says on SUFC website he is trying to get to the root of the problem eg.lack of goals....change it!!Change to 4-4-2 play with 2 strikers and attack and we will score more goals I would imagine!

Anyone suggesting he should go can forget it. He's just been given a three year contract and I doubt the Prince will want his first investment to be paying a new manager off after a few weeks.

They appointed Weir with a specific long term strategy in mind and they have to stick to their guns regardless of any knee jerking on internet forums and radio stations.

It isn't knee jerking on internet forums and radio stations though ,it is so blatantly obvious watching the team play that there are massive problems ,its not personal as in the past with managers, it is a very worrying what is going on and the lack of assumed ability to change it.

I have to say, Weir is coming across as absolutely f'kin stupid. No wonder the players look confused.

Well said.

I can't really believe how awful it has been so far. It is blatantly obvious at the moment what the problems are regarding the first team, and yet the man who is paid to rectify these problems either can't identify them, or is unable to rectify them.

The buck stops with the man who picks the team, and instructs them how to play

It is pointless giving him more games because he will stick with this system which is not working and the players are obviously not comfortable with,so we will be in the same boat in 5 or 10 games time and too far behind then!
We need an attacking minded manager and be more direct!

he doesn't have the players......for fucks sake. o_O

Well many pundits in the game say we have a big squad, who managed to finish er 6th last year.

If Blackman = Baxter then perhaps it is the manager who is under performing. At the moment if he loses the next three games he'll be worse than Adams!

If things go badly against PNE then i can see the atmosphere in the stands turning nasty.

i'd rather have no drama.. i'm not an advocate of hoof either. thing is.. the managers job simply put is to make sure that the sum of the whole is greater than that of the sum of the parts?

Is the long-term strategy non-league football?

Not for me to say. It's up to the club to state their aims and justify why it's not working immediately as most supporters will inevitably want. All I'm saying is the club would be unbelievably weak to abandon a manager after a few games having so strongly championed him and his philosophy as a means of taking us forward.

They're not going to do that anyway. It would make a mockery of the lengthy selection process and vision outlined to the new joint owner. I highly doubt they would go down such a road off the back of the dissenting voices of supporters who for the majority, will have never played or managed a football game in their life.

Sorry, it was a tongue in cheek comment. Personally I think Weir would benefit (and would have benefitted initially) with having an experienced assistant - somebody who has experience of this level of football. At the moment the side is creating next to no chances to score, which is a major concern as that is the basic tenet of the game! The question is, would you accept relegation to the bottom tier of the league to stick with a manager and his philosophy on management? If its not working with the shower available to him in division 3 I really can't see how he will make any progress getting out of the 4th.

I know, no worries.

No I wouldn't accept relegation and I don't accept the position we are in but I will say it again.....not to you specifically but to everyone.....HE'S HAD SEVEN GAMES! I agree its not been a good seven games but that is no reasonable amount of time to judge any new manager. If this run continues into the next month, the one after then yes action needs to be taken.

The majority seem to be saying he needs to go, I personally think the majority have lost the fucking plot.

I agree, he needs more time. On another thread I said he should get another 5 games (another 5 games of next to no goals and he will have to go regardless of the boards opinion of him), the danger of leaving it too long is not giving the new manager (if it happens) enough time to get some momentum going. I really do hope Weir sorts it out, as we appear to have decended into a Wendy-esque revolving door policy on managers these past few years.
