The 3-window punishment was for non-payment so I don't see how it falls away it. It's a punishment for an offence already committed, unrelated to administration.

It'd set an awful precedent if the EFL relented on this, and other clubs would have grounds for a strong legal challenge.

Hull had their 3 window ban reduced to 2 with the other window suspended on appeal ,so that's the precedence

I think potential buyers are after bagging too much of bargain Simon Jordan more or less said it himself when he said he was trying to Nick a bargain so the extended deadline may be for the creditors/administers to weed out the real potential buyers or allow for more serious bids. I’m just wondering at what stage they have to make a decision before further points deductions come their way and in which season they receive them?

I'm sure other clubs would want to know the criteria of any of the 3 windows getting lifted ,hull had one suspended on appeal.but any of this can't be heard until prospective new owners have passed fit and proper and have taken over the club .

It appears then that the EFL have 'swapped' the last two windows of the previous sanction with a 6 point deduction.

As their chances of avoiding relegation were already extremely low, the EFL have shit themselves and hoped nobody would notice.

It’s Radio Sheffield that have said that during Football Heaven tonight. As far as I can tell the EFL have not said that at all. Where Radio Sheffield have got it from I’ve no idea - I’m assuming it’s the weds fan administrator which isn’t really an unbiased source now is it. Not really sure it’s wise for the administrators to allow the person dealing with creditors etc to be a Wednesday fan. Surely a conflict of interest as the administrator has two roles - one to ensure the creditors are paid as much of their debt as possible and two that they do as much as possible to salvage the business in this case Piggy FC. Rob Staton kept stressing that it’s a good thing that Weds were receiving all their punishments this season and it’s positive for the club and potential new owners. He said why should Weds be punished any further abc especially next season. I disagree. The reason is simple. By allowing a club - in this case Sheffield Wednesday - to start afresh next season after essentially wiping their debts free and removing punishments like the transfer embargos that are for rule breaking that’s already occurred they are effectively giving Weds a massive advantage over the other 23 clubs that will be in League One next season. Whether we like Weds or not if the transfer embargo’s are removed players that would be attracted to play for League Ons clubs next season would choose Weds over say Rotherham because of club size. The EFL is there to represent all 72 clubs not just Sheffield Weds and they will be leaving themselves open to legal challenges and potential precedent setting that rules can be broken and punishments not followed through with

I agree totally. If I was a League One club I’d be getting my objections in early and indeed mentioning that there may be a legal challenge if weds transfer embargoes are removed.
