Wednesday points deduction: Can you imagine a scenario where…

The 3-window punishment was for non-payment so I don't see how it falls away it. It's a punishment for an offence already committed, unrelated to administration.

It'd set an awful precedent if the EFL relented on this, and other clubs would have grounds for a strong legal challenge.
Hull had their 3 window ban reduced to 2 with the other window suspended on appeal ,so that's the precedence

No matter which way you look at it, its pretty sad to see English soccer with these issues when some EPL teams are banks and the rest barely have a positive bank balance.

Pro teams here in the US are profit centers so whats the difference?

A few MLS teams lose money still, that’s despite no competition locally, salary caps and big sponsorship deals.

They won't have new owner by then, admins have already extended the deadline for preferred bidders, nobody wants them, at least not at the price their asking
I think potential buyers are after bagging too much of bargain Simon Jordan more or less said it himself when he said he was trying to Nick a bargain so the extended deadline may be for the creditors/administers to weed out the real potential buyers or allow for more serious bids. I’m just wondering at what stage they have to make a decision before further points deductions come their way and in which season they receive them?

I'm sure other clubs would want to know the criteria of any of the 3 windows getting lifted ,hull had one suspended on appeal.but any of this can't be heard until prospective new owners have passed fit and proper and have taken over the club .

… we come out to to play them at the Lane in February - knowing that if we beat them we send them down. They’ll be 13 games left after that point and would need to be 39 points adrift (currently 27 points adrift).

I mean come on..it is possible?☺️

I’ll get my coat

I would love it if they got relegated on minus points as that would surely be a record that would never be broken !
As ever UTB !

Don’t forget we have to beat them first. With a new owner they may have a stronger squad.
Let’s worry about what we are doing at present.
Even with new owners it won’t be easy to attract decent Championship players, knowing that they will be plying their trade in League one.

Alternatively, it could be the game they get the point that takes them up to zero , imagine their
wild celebrations from that 0-0 win ,

It appears then that the EFL have 'swapped' the last two windows of the previous sanction with a 6 point deduction.

As their chances of avoiding relegation were already extremely low, the EFL have shit themselves and hoped nobody would notice.

No doubt other clubs, especially those who broke the same rules and didn't receive such favours, will respond.

Where ,on the EFL,s website still to winter 27
It’s Radio Sheffield that have said that during Football Heaven tonight. As far as I can tell the EFL have not said that at all. Where Radio Sheffield have got it from I’ve no idea - I’m assuming it’s the weds fan administrator which isn’t really an unbiased source now is it. Not really sure it’s wise for the administrators to allow the person dealing with creditors etc to be a Wednesday fan. Surely a conflict of interest as the administrator has two roles - one to ensure the creditors are paid as much of their debt as possible and two that they do as much as possible to salvage the business in this case Piggy FC. Rob Staton kept stressing that it’s a good thing that Weds were receiving all their punishments this season and it’s positive for the club and potential new owners. He said why should Weds be punished any further abc especially next season. I disagree. The reason is simple. By allowing a club - in this case Sheffield Wednesday - to start afresh next season after essentially wiping their debts free and removing punishments like the transfer embargos that are for rule breaking that’s already occurred they are effectively giving Weds a massive advantage over the other 23 clubs that will be in League One next season. Whether we like Weds or not if the transfer embargo’s are removed players that would be attracted to play for League Ons clubs next season would choose Weds over say Rotherham because of club size. The EFL is there to represent all 72 clubs not just Sheffield Weds and they will be leaving themselves open to legal challenges and potential precedent setting that rules can be broken and punishments not followed through with

A bit like Leicester paying sweet f a to their creditors then being able to find enough money to become Premier League champions shortly afterwards. 😡

You can’t be meting out punishments only to reduce or withdraw them. It gives the whole process a lack of credibility.

They should simply get the punishment correct in the first place and no amount of begging should see them reduced. Only if they got the facts wrong should this happen, which clearly they haven’t.

Otherwise you create chaos.

Can United get their 2 points back now please? Can others who had transfer embargoes have them retrospectively reversed. Those who already punished can they get an extra individual window just for them to redress it? Of course not, which is why they can’t reverse the embargo.

The punishment for Wednesday is for them to be disadvantaged into the next two seasons as a punishment for unfairly taking advantage over other rivals by paying wages they could not afford. They could have been relegated instead of a Plymouth had they recruited within an affordable budget. It opens a massive can of worms.

I agree totally. If I was a League One club I’d be getting my objections in early and indeed mentioning that there may be a legal challenge if weds transfer embargoes are removed.

That’ll be it. The piggy administrator will appeal to the EFL claiming he can’t get a deal done and a massively important, historic club will be lost unless they roll over

Hog Staton was saying on Football Heaven last night that, in his opinion, Owls fans had already suffered enough, and that it's totally right that the club should receive no further punishments.

I think every team they face from now until end of season should do their best to beat them (which won't be hard) so they finish on negative points at the end of season. Has that ever happened before? Surely we'd remind them of that for years & years to come.

Since the fans wanted chansiri and enjoyed the spendageddon 10 years ago... they should take what's coming to them.
