From 'turning on the manager' to mere 'wanker post'. That's some concession from one so precious. I'll take that.
If you like.

I’ll concentrate on supporting my team - something you talk a lot about and appear to fail miserably to do.

Restraining from posting honest/negative opinions on a messageboard really is top notch support. I can only take my hat off to you.

“Wilder has bottled it”

If you can’t see that for what it is then there’s no point explaining further.
and that one outlier represents everyone apart from you and your pal yeah ok
everyone was disappointed with the result probably the manner of the result more than anything
some will blame the ref, some the manager and some the players, some even a single player. unfortunately for some lunny wasn’t playing.. it’s just venting
then there are some odd balls that blame our own fans . they are as disappointed as the rest of us but attempt to disguise it by virtue signalling how many games they went to.. how the rest of us are weak etc. i just find it odd

You’re turning it on everyone else.

I singled out Ricky, and mentioned that some of our fans are mentally weak. If you think that’s not the case, then visit the shoutbox on matchday, or look for the usual meltdowns on here after every defeat.

I’m not imagining it.

yeah i know about the shoutbox! :)
just because people moan and groan in the heat of the moment though doesn’t mean they aren’t as passionate about the club as anyone else though does it?
Ricky has a thing about the noise or lack of.. whilst i do sympathise with his view i’m not sure any club generates the kind of noise we had in the 80’s anymore

But I haven’t said anything about people’s passion?

I’m talking about those whose views ebbe and flow with every result. Those who jump on the manager, like Ricky has done, because a substitution hasn’t paid off.

If you don’t then want those views scrutinised, don’t post them on public forums.

A few more added on to the thread who won't be wanted in the trenches I see :D
after i was involved in a pub brawl one time up west street my grandfather (30’s hard man) once told me something that has proved useful over the years .. ‘don’t worry about the posturing gobshites at the front they will be nowhere to be seen when the tear up starts.. watch out for the anonymous lads at the back.. the quiet ones that you don’t expect .. they don’t have to gob off they can handle themselves’
;)

Not enough knee room in the trenches. The uniform design is rubbish, no one ever fires a shot from the South trench, the rations are always cold, piss all over the place, the officers don't know what they're doing,.......

people are puzzled by the billy substitution.. so am i.. but then i don’t hold a set of FA coaching badges so what do i know.. i’m not blaming Chris/knilly i’m sure they had a cunning plan
i suppose i’m kind of hoping that maybe some poster i have a lot of respect for like say Swiss or Bergen or Foxy can explain to me what the thinking was because understanding it might make me feel better. i think that’s normal

It is normal - and I wasn’t referring to you! :D

Perhaps you’ve posted something further up that made you think I was. I haven’t read the whole thread.

i was just trying to stick up for some of the slashers and asking for a bit of understanding.. the supreme irony of course being that i’m not one of them. i still believe we can do it.. if we din’t get autos we have nothing to fear in the playoffs .. other teams fear ‘us’ ..

And yet I don’t hold out any hope for us in the playoffs! :)

Asking 'why don't we make more noise?' is like asking why are we 'only' averaging 25,882 at home while Villa are on 35,575, Leeds 33,867 and Forest, Derby & Norwich are above us. Apart from winning something in their lifetime (nobody who goes to BDTBL has a grandfather who would have seen us win anything), one-club city etc. they go to home matches knowing that the atmosphere will normally be raucous. If I stood up in the centre of the SS and tried starting a song, I'd be on my own. And look like a cunt.

The kop (top corner , John Street side) try their best and on Saturday - after our goal - it spread to other parts of the ground. But it is what it is and don't think many grounds are different. Arsenal and Man. U. are 'libraries',Man. City has gone all corporate and even Liverpool have, for years, needed to be 'cued up' by the DJ playing 'YNWA'. Take the pathetic band away from Swillsborough and it's like a morgue.

Doesn't make us any lesser fans or 'bottle jobs.'

Ahem... gentlemen.

Those who are so keen to denigrate the attitudes of groups of fans as a whole may wish to first consider their own conduct.

Pack it in. Play the ball, not the man.

Sounds like an afternoon on the kop ;)

Exactly :)

The people moaning about atmosphere or bottling it - no bottle needed on the internet, no financial outlay, no risk of losing your job - moan about everything in an "l know better" way. It's a badge of honour for some. Then they get mardy when people disagree. The true definition of a Bigger Blade on this forum are the ones who believe they could run all aspects of the club from top to bottom despite no experience whatsoever. There's more than one egotistical enough to believe they have all the answers. It's not about having an opinion, it's about constant repetitive negativity whilst criticising other fans and the manager who's pulled us up from the edge of the abyss, learning along the way. Do we really expect him never to get things wrong?

Sling yer' hook Thornton and take yer' common sense with you.

Let's get back to beating ourselves up.

Anyone for birch twigs and a freezing dip in Rivelin paddling pool early tomorrow?

Some only want to beat others up. They know it all remember, but claim it's opinion when challenged.

There's one thing I don't know the answer to. Possibly two. (Though that's unlikely).
It's what keeps me humble.
