Makes the December pile up seem even more stupid. Kick off half way through August; minimal games and international breaks across September/October/November, then cram a load in December before going back to a quieter schedule.

Warm weather training. Rest for the aches and pains. An ok result and decent performance vs Brighton.

We now get to play ourselves back into more form with a good time at Reading who are scraping for form. We'll play a team that hasn't improved since last season but who will play an open game.

In the meantime, someone in the Wolves v Spurs game will drop points, likewise the Man U v Everton game. All which benefits us. Plus Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea still have Liverpool on their calendar which we do not and Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea still have City.

After a decent rest, this could be viewed as an excellent mini season.

I've been generally Ok with the fewer games until the last month which has been a joke really.

Even if we lose to Reading we will play 6 fewer games than last season over 10 months, so it's not that significant really.

City and the scousers will have the PL down up and focused on the CL, so expect the kiddies to feature in those games.

Wilder won’t be happy; he didn’t want the mid-season break and that’s been compounded by Villa reaching the cup final. It’s noticeable that Liverpool have lost rhythm since the break and, more generally, there have been some unexpected results - I wouldn’t be surprised if it disappeared again next year.
