We need a new defence when we go up.

Chelsea could win the Premier League by ten points or more and they'd still look to improve their team for next season.

Of course we'll need to improve if we go up a level.

Wright went off v Oxford - they scored.

Wright doesn't play today - we concede 2 in 10 minutes.

Stay fit Jake and this will be a walk in the park.

UTB

Yep
It doesn't matter who is in charge and it doesn't matter who plays for us

The same lack of concentration and ability to toss it off when we are in front always rears its ugly head

They seem unaware of the fact that if you give a professional team a sniff of a chance they will take it

It gives fans heart failure and stinks of a lack of professionalism when we're winning

It happens too often just after half time for it to just be unlucky
Why not enjoy another win instead of finding fault? We all know we concede goals but fucking hell mate, we do knock a few in as well. Maybe you would have been happier with Clough or Madkins.

Of course we will need to strengthen, it's pretty much mandatory for all newly promoted teams to have a chance of staying up. But while ever we are scoring more than we are conceding, I don't care how many we are conceding.

We are playing similar to the way Reading played when they got promoted ahead of us in the championship they had the motto of you score 1 we will score 2 and played like that every week.

Hold on, the 2 tonight were shots from outside the area. They either go in or a mile wide, this is not necessarily the defences fault.

Or was Lafferty's against Rochdale their defences fault? But Wright over EEL for me any day of the week!

By all accounts Colketts shot was a worldy from around 25-30 yards out just one of them things you can't do much about thunderbolts out the blue.

Loving (and hating) the drama, if we were 7-0 at HT we would scrape it 9-8. Better than the shit served up cold last season.

Anything is better than that shower of shit Yeovil and Bury away summed our seasons up utter wank.

I'll take a white knuckle ride 4-2 win over a Nigel Clough nervy 1-0 win or a "good point" any day. 7 points out of the last 9, all away from home, scored 10 conceded 7. Exciting times, might make us a bit nervous at times but if we keep winning who gives a fuck? UTB!

Spot on. Defending is a team effort.

I'll never understand this mentality of "we won so nothing else matters," I'm happy we won, but we blew a 0-2 lead in about 6 minutes by not closing players down. We were then absolutely gifted a ridiculous goal to go back in front. So pleased with the win, but can we try and defend a bit better please.

If we score 4 goals and concede two every week I'll be a happy man.

We have beaten just 6 times in the league so far this season. It baffles me that people can criticise the amount we concede when this is the free scoring blades side I can remember. It's incredible. The last thing we want to do is concentrate on conceding less as we will inevitably score less! Don't change what ain't broke!

Just seen the highlights.

First goal was an absolute worldie, absolutely no stopping that.

Second was another very decent finish from outside area.

If we'd conceded Swindon's goals then we really would need to worry.

So you don't think Moore should have saved either of them then? I do, especially the second one. He was too easily beaten, slow going down and got nowhere near the ball.

We can ignore such things if you like because we've won. But if we'd blown it - and let's be honest, we came pretty close to blowing it against one of the worst sides in this division - I think there'd be quite a lot of folks on here who would have been quick to point it out.

The main thing though is that I'm sure Chris Wilder's noticed how easily we are conceding and will be planning to do something about it in the summer. I'd definitely be looking for another goalkeeper, if only because we cannot risk relying on George Long as back up. I think we need another centre half and a full back who can tackle too. Then there's the little matter of strikers - I think we'll leave that discussion for another day but I'd expect us to be looking to strengthen up front as well to be able to compete at that level.

Not every goal scored is the fault of the defense and/or goalkeeper Not every goal scored is the fault of the attackers. Funny old game.

The first one absolutely no chance, it was just an excellent strike.

Second goal we possibly could have closed him down better and the strike wasn't as good.

Chris Wilder has one job, and that's to get us up, he seems to be doing a damn fine job if it too. I'm more than sure he'll address any issues when the job is done.

But no, 3/4 into a season where we're 9 points clear, he doesn't need to "worry" that we've conceded a couple of goals when we've just scored double what the opposition has.

Everybody used to say we'd take a loss if we just saw the players giving it all for the shirt... we're winning and scoring and entertaining... I'm really satisfied me..

The type of game we play will always allow the opposition chances because we're after them for 90 minutes and we'll leave gaps "etc"

Clough would have won one nil last night after going in front in the first five, Adkins would have shown endeavour and drew...think on......

I'm blissfully happy, roll on Saturday..

We ship a boat load against the shite in this league, imagine the carnage in the Championship.

We could have Paolo Maldini, Bobby Moore and Frank Beckenbaur in defence - if our midfield lets people run unchallenged to the edge of the box, we're screwed.

A DM who stops runners is what we need.

Fair play to Tufty though. He stuck Basham in there for the last 25 mins and it made the difference.

Lavery on the other hand got ran in behind for most of the second half. His positional play was all over the place last night.

We're top of the fucking league.
Fucking comfortably.

I think everybody is enjoying it, and I'd much rather win with goals in a game than be a team that just sets out to gain a boring 1-0 win, but we don't half make hard work out of winning from situations of control.

The rate at which we concede goals is a concern for next season though.
Every game it seems that what little bit the opposition throws at us ends up being a goal
It doesn't matter whether it's one or two minutes of pressure, a sudden break away or a speculative 30 yarder, it always ends up in our net.

Wilder will be thinking exactly the same as me, you can bet on it
He'll be pleased with the win, but he will also be concerned about how many goals we allow our opponents to score from practically none of the play and thus handing the impetus to them when there was none to begin with.

We just won 4-2. I don't care about defense with the way we are winning at the moment, I cant remember us being as exciting as this since the first year we came down.
This time we aint gonna balls it up!!

I agree with this to some extent
But if we are gonna ship goals I would rather get 4-0 up and then allow the oppo to get two goals back.

Was going to post exactly the same thing.

If you look at the goals conceded last night IF you have to apportion blame anywhere it's the midfield not the defence as both players are basically allowed to line up a shot unchallenged before getting anywhere near the defence.

Our midfield is great due to how attacking and gung ho we can play in this league but i feel we may need a decent DM at times in the league above.
