I don't know if anyone else heard Grayson's comments about us after the game on Saturday but to sum it up he thought they handled us early doors and limited us to long range shots but they didn't handle that spell of pressure that we put them under when we scored. He did say we are a good team who will be there or there about's come the end of the season.

On thing he did say though was along the lines of "We know what Sheffield United are all about, they play counter attacking football, this is probably why they drop so many points at home".

To an extent I do think think Grayson has a point. In the first half of the season I think we have been guilty of this on a few occasions when we should have been applying pressure a kicking on for the win.

In addition to this I do think we have been quite predictable for a good few teams in this league this year who knows about Clough's eagerness to play counter attacking football. Most teams turn up with the mindset of playing with discipline and two solid banks of players sat in front of the keeper as we have struggled to break them down.

We played great on Saturday but it won't work every time. I do think with the new signings needs to come a new mentality and a plan B as well. The only way we are going to mount any sort of challenge for those automatic places now is to win games and at the same time we need to get the goal tally up as well so we need to be going at teams and winning convincingly.

Its there to see when we pressurize teams we have them in trouble.

A two goal lead is not good enough to sit back and we nearly got caught out Saturday late on.

Preston never looked dangerous until we invited them at us what a sickener that would have been if they had knicked a point or worse still two.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Clough knows the answer, as he says 4-5-1 can become 4-3-3 in a flash. Trouble is we never do it!!

I think it is more about playing at a higher tempo and being more positive.

The 1st half on Sat was like most games this season - too slow and too negative. Second half we stepped up the tempo, ran at their defenders and got more players forward - and looked really good.

One interesting thing on Saturday was that Preston came and played a definite 4-4-2 formation with Davies and Beckford definitely a two up front. This was in marked contrast to every other team I have seen this season who come and park the bus with basically 10 or even 11 players behind the ball and hope that they will frustrate us and perhaps get the odd chance which they will stick away. Unfortunately we always seem to give teams at least one chance and they always seem to score from it (Notts c, MKD, Walsall to name but three). The fact that Preston came and took the game to us more than other teams actually helped us.
Having said that I think that if we had played as well as we did on Saturday we would have comfortably beaten certainly Notts and Walsall. Let's hope we can push on and play like that every week.
