All these “incoming” and “player suggestion” threads. But we’ve really no idea have we? It’s not got going yet.

I must admit, I disregard most of the “player suggestion” threads, including my own. Because it’s pure fantasy.

But the “incoming” threads ought to be based on something a bit more tangible? I’m not sure they are?

Does anyone have any remote inkling about who we are going to sign? I don’t!

I just hope it’s a big brute of a centre half, a left back who is better than Les Tibbott, and a centre forward who is tall, quick and handsome. (The last bit was from my missus btw, not me).

I hang around in boozers near to Bramall lane in the close season, to see what I can find out. It's logical because those pubs are near to the ground, so some folks who work at the club will go in them. And it's logical to me that when they've had a few drinks they will start to loosen their tongues and let some secrets slip out. I've been doing this for years now and it works really well. Sometimes I go up to people outright and just ask them point blank, "What's occurring?" but you've got to know them first really, otherwise they just say things like, "Who are you, nosey twat?". Mostly I sit in a quiet corner with a broadsheet newspaper with two eye-holes cut out of it - and just observe.

Over the years I've made some great scoops. I was one of the first to learn that Johny Ertl doesn't like peas. I heard, way before anyone else, that Che Adams had got a head like a wing-nut. And only the other day I heard that Wilder has said to Holmes that if he wants to get in our first team he's got to get rid of that man bun and stop being a puff.

I will keep you informed of course.

It used to be that some journalists got fairly reliable info, however as the star get most of their rumours from here, HITC or football league world it’s all generally bollocks

There was a time when the Sun used to have good sources in the football fraternity, but that seems to have disappeared as they are an irrelevant entity nowadays (some would say that they always were)

I have it on good authority that Courtois is signing in a £60m deal.

Seriously though, I hate the Player Suggestion tab and raised that the moment it came in but was ultimately shot down, mainly by people that at guided Yeovil to the Club World Championship on Football Manager- "we should sign Javier Saviola or Nii Lampety"
 
When I was a manager, Tonton Zola Mokoku and Javier Saviola led Sheff Utd to loads of successive European Championships. We should defo sign both of them ;) :D:rolleyes:

It seems like the more players people mention the more of a chance you get one right. But like swinging in the dark.

Maybe we should have a raffle where we put a quid in up to 50 players.

Don’t know many of them mate but I think Bayayoko’s not a bad shout. Always seem to play well against us.
 
Foxy is your man, nothing happens at the Lane without his say so, unfortunately getting info out of him is about as hard as getting him to buy a drink!!!;)
 
I actually quite like rumours and player suggestions, keeps things ticking over until the season starts.

Some are outrageous, some are just a laugh, and others are plausible and give food for thought.

The ones who are genuinely ITK probably laugh their socks off reading some of the threads, but it does not harm.
 
Ricky does some good scouting. He thinks about the pros and cons but it's still all guess work.
Some on here break the news slightly earlier but I don't think anyone is as ITK as they think they are with Wilder in charge.

i'm not sure the Peas cared too much for Jonny Ertl either.
 
As has said before. Wilder has a great knack of keeping transfers close. Espically the 1st season. 1st time id heard of interest was when we had bought him. Apart from that time when they released the videos on youtube & had to rush the information
