OK. We’re six points off safety and there are a total of 36 points to play for. At first glance our position looks dire but commonly, as the season draws to a close, seemingly “doomed” teams start winning. I certainly expect us to get a few wins out of our final 12 games.

However, if we are to stay up we probably need at least 50 points - another 21 points. That’s six wins, three draws, and three defeats.

We have winnable home games against Leeds, Boro, Dingles and Bristol City. At least, they once would have been seen as winnable. We still have to play Preston away. That’s a potential 15 points. Another possible win could be in our next three games – away at Pompey and Watford, or home to Forest.

If we can get a win in the next couple of games, we might still have an outside chance of avoiding the drop. It would take a major reversal in form but stranger things have happened.

Here’s an over-optimistic look at what could happen over the next couple of months, with the win eventually coming against the Dirties. It would still leave us short of 50 points though.

Congratulations on the most optimistic post of the year. I applaud your effort and hope.

To be fair, he has a point. We could still stay up. Then again, Audrey Tautou could knock on my door and tell me to take her to bed or lose her forever, carrying a bag full of £100m (and a demand that 50% of it gets invested into the playing staff at SUFC), and the keys to a Fijian beach house. But she won't.

At the moment the problem is seeing where the next win is coming from.

Once we get the win, we could quite easily hit a reasonable patch of form, the only question is, are we effectively down by the time that happens.

Given our fixtures and the way we are playing, I reckon we probably will be...

Then are those "actually" doomed teams that dont.

I am assuming the Original Poster went straight out after work on Friday, and has just got in .......

Trust me.....we wont. As posted earlier in this thread, your spirit of positivity is admirable but you're waiting for something that isnt going to happen dkc.

We've just lost to two of the sides down in the mire with us and then to the only side in the league with worse form that us (before Saturday). That comes at the end of a 12 match winless run.....seems to show quite comprehensively that they're not capable of beating anyone IMO. We'll finish bottom and will be down by early April I reckon.

I mean this in the most genuine way.....do yourself a favour and accept the inevitable now because only a mircale will keep us up from here. I find its better to face the disappointment now than to build up any more hope.

Sure she does.

Teachers have to dress in similar to students as to not degrade them these days.
See, she's getting ready to do PE in the hall in her pants and vest coz she forgot her kit.

In summary, we could still stay up with 50 points, but even with our biggest wishing boots on, we don't think we'll get 50 points.

But you never know what could happen if we get a win in the next couple of games which, even with our biggest wishing boots on, we won't.

So all to play for, except there isn't.

Happy to help.

We could still stay up, as could Preston. I just dont think we will win because we are utterly shit.

I've travelled far and wide, London to Merseyside but there is only one place i wanna be.... :nana:

Geez, we are scraping the barrel here. I admire your positivty, but it just smacks of disillussionment. After we've not won for 15 matches then how the fuck are we going to pull out 6 wins from our last 12 games. Have you been watching the games? We've been piss poor and are getting worse. I would not be surprised if we did not win again this season.

I've seen better walking down Fargate, anyway French birds are too stroppy :D

Speaking from experience? Tried it out with one of the many French birds living in the urban metropolis that is Bolton??!

For the record Audrey Tatou is incredible. A goddess. You can talk bollocks about seeing better looking women in Fargate, her being too skinny(!?) or some other nonsense, but the women is beyond belief. I'd give my right arm for a night with her (after the night :D).

To be honest, I really wouldn't. Really. She looks like an evil pixie.
