Some people are going to look very stupid if we don't do it, it's far from over. If Leeds can lose two apparently easy games it might just happen to us as well.

Hold your fire till it's confirmed.

True! But what a killjoy Bert is!

Allow us to be a little bit excited and anticipating victory maybe?

I know it's not very Sheffieldish to look forward positively to something. It's far more Sheffieldish to expect that the worst things in life are going to happen to you, and then if they don't, you'll feel better. It also annoys some folk if you speak about positive things before they've happened, because they believe that by talking about it, you can jinx it and prevent it from happening. Such people need sectioning in my opinion.

I'm sorry but I cannot contain my excitement, I'm sorry for feeling so positive.

I think we will beat Ipswich today - of that I am totally confident. And if I'm wrong, then I don't think it makes me "look foolish", and if I'm right I don't think it makes me "look wise" either.

These occasions are so rare that I'm thinking of nothing other than a positive outcome. And I'm enjoying this feeling, very much actually! I don't envy those of you who are moping around all miserable this morning thinking..."aye...watch 'em go and bloody blow it!".

Miserable sods!

Too many struggling to differentiate between confidence and counting chickens before they've hatched.

Hopefully the manager and players are being miserable and boring too.

Bert is a very optimistic person, but he also knows when to open the champagne and when to keep it on ice.

Bert's Krug is on ice.

Or for a different analogy, when one has a lovely evening out with one's good lady does one cough one's filthy yoghurt all over the back of her legs the minute one gets through the door, or does one take her to bed and show her a wonderful climax to an already wonderful evening?

I'm presuming the players won't have the old promotion t-shirts and flags out tonight if they win.

Much too much pressure on us to finish the job. Whereas no pressure at all on Ipswich.

If we have any wish to be successful we'll accept that dealing with pressure comes with the territory. All season Wilder's team have been there or thereabouts, so if that ain't learning to deal with pressure I've no idea what the team has to do to convince any doubters that they're equipped for what's ahead.

A win today will amount to an almost unassailable position from which the Blades cannot be caught, so yes, it's a promotion win by any standards.....can't wait for the visit of West Ham UTMB!

Wigan are a far better side than Ipswich. I understand the caution of some on here but I won't be part of it. If we can't turnover a side at home that have won 4 games all season then we don't deserve to go up.
Wigan still have the worst away record in the division, even after their win at Leeds !!!

Come on, SV. It’s been over an hour now and I’m dying to know the answer.

Talk about cliffhangers...

Never have been

But the players can be grounded

We don't have to be
I know what you're saying but all this talk of 'who we will be playing next year, ground improvements, etc.' is just making me a little apprehensive. They were even fawning all over us on Calendar last night! I feel a bit sick to be honest, god I cant wait for 5.15!

We need to do things as humbly as possible.

Oh, the irony.

True unfortunately. Noticed that yesterday, Ipswich are slightly better away than Wigan

Bolton game postponed. Both United and Weeds have taken 6 PTS off Notlob and we have an extra 3 goals advantage from the games. So whatever happens to Bolton (and I don't give a shit either way) it's not going to impact on us

Hard to like Bolton aren't they ?

I’m amazed we haven’t had a thread yet debating what music G-Sinc should have on after the final whistle. Feels like a major oversight.

This is it for me. Nothing about mathematically or odds or whatever else, (and certainly not gods and curses), it just comes over all up-our-own-arses when we talk about promotion as if we've got it before the game has been played. That's not who we are, surely.

You can come off the tablets now
