You're right

The time for celebrating is after the job is done, not before

5 points clear, 2 games in hand and mind the gap, ought to be a reminder to keep a low key

I don't see anyone celebrating TBH just lots of excited Blades fans rightfully expecting us to beat Ipswich and get promoted. Sure anything can happen but if you can't be enthused by the past 2 games then its time to pack it in.

Some people are going to look very stupid if we don't do it, it's far from over. If Leeds can lose two apparently easy games it might just happen to us as well.

Hold your fire till it's confirmed.

Anyone looking to take out insurance can get 12/1 for Leeds to finish in the top two. If you’ve got a Paddy Power account, you may be entitled to a price boost up to 14/1.

United are a top price of 1/16 with Victor Chandler.

Basically, if these prices are right we’ve approximately a 7% chance of messing up.

However, for comparison purposes, we were 12/1 to be relegated on the morning of the Chelsea game in 1994 and 7/1 to go down prior to the 2007 Wigan match.

Ipswich have been to West Brom and Bristol City and took a point. Draws against Derby, Forest and a win away to Bolton have all happened in the last 5 to 6 weeks. Only last two results have set them back losing to both Preston and Swansea. They don't win many but can be difficult to break down as we found out in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

Some of the comments on this forum suggesting it will be a walk in the park at the week end are exactly the same that were being made by Weeds fans prior to the game against Wigan. Thats the team who turned up with the worst away record in all four divisions and still won the game with 10 men. Nothing is won yet and Saturday will be a difficult game. Some Ipswich fans may want us to win to stop Narwich getting the title but Lambert and the players will be out to gain a shock win. Lets be honest Ipswich have never been fond of us since the play offs years ago so don't expect them to lie down.

We have to be at the top of our game, hope we get competent officials and keep our nerve on and off the pitch. That also includes the management team regarding team selection, formation and subs.

We are moments away from the promised land lets try to get there showing passion but also some humility, we are Blades not Pigs.

Some right miserable gits on here, most us seem to be enjoying the weekends results and the fact that we could achieve promotion ,very, very few are going overboard and so what if they are? Leave em alone , let em enjoy the moment they ain't going to affect anything on Saturday ,possibly the opposite ,I presume they will be there singing and cheering the team on, I suspect some on here will still feel something to moan about if we just manage to scrape through 1-0. Lighten up ffs.

Lots of sound advice above, so if anyone questions the need to keep their thoughts to themselves, just trawl through the posts and tell yourself to do the sensible thing and keep quiet......until it's obvious that we're heading towards the Premiership. We all share the same desire, the same dream, but we're not there yet.......so no more of this assumption bollocks, that's what we expect from our neighbours and any other bunch of clueless two hats who think they're entitled to this, that, or whatever.

Be patient, we'll soon know where we were meant to be UTMB!!!

And this is what I was brought up on. So I’m basically going to be in a state of mild panic unless or until we turn over Ipswich.

Any idea how many tickets we'll get for Tottenham away?

It only takes a bit of carelessness or bad luck to lose a point or two. Leeds were well beaten yesterday but if they had been given the penalty they should have had in the first half who knows what the final result would have been? A ref's mistake is always a possibility and Oh My God We've Lost. If both sides play their best we should beat Ipswich OK but crazy things happen. Let's party after the match rather than in advance.
Precisely. There are enough variables in a game of football to cast doubt over any game. That’s why you still had cup upsets even when top level teams fielded full strength sides against lower league. One bad tackle or a refereeing error can change everything, it’s not all about players’ mindsets.

The worse thing we Blades could do would be to just sit waiting for us to win it, we’ve got to treat Ipswich as if they were as good as Norwich and push the lads on. We’ve definitely got a part to play and if anybody’s thinking that they might be having a moan if we’re not cruising by half-time, do us all a favour and sod off to Scarborough for the day...please.

As much as that?

I am sure this will have been CWs first message to the players this morning.

They won’t take it for granted, nor should we. Saturday IS a cup final for us not a party day out. I will treat it as such.

Absolutely right on both counts. Let’s hope our fans manage to conquer those voice-debilitating ne

Let’s talk about Dirty Corrupt Leeds then. We might not need a single further point. That’s just as valid an argument, you might think?

I can see Villa turning Leeds over or at least getting a draw.

Quite often with relegated teams results pick up , as they play without fear ,us fans could really help by not moaning if we go a goal down .

You can also lay us on the exchanges at 1.08.

It doesn’t matter what Chris Wilder or anyone else says. Our more intelligent and all knowing supporters have already correctly written this side off as ‘bottlejobs’

Yes. We have to bear in mind that ‘it’s Sheffield United’. The current management and playing squad has let us down far too often.

If only our team had the fortitude, resolution and tenacity of those titans, Dirty Corrupt Leeds, or even of our never-say-die fans.

We can only dream.

It's all over, there's only one club in the world who could possibly balls this up now and that's........ oh shit.

Might be borderline ignorant or just confidence but I’m already giving it big time to my friends who support Leeds, the way we’ve played and the games we have left and the way Leeds have played and the games they have left to play..... I have every faith that we will do it on Saturday. Thinking an early goal and possibly someone to be an absolute hero and have the game of their life and get a hatrick - I predict a thrashing. Sell out game... why not ?

Hold your fire till it's confirmed.

I'm trying Bert i really am. I promise. But i keep having relapses and start getting giddy.

I should add I've been in offices full of Leeds fans playing it down most of day. Leeds fans have given up (like some of us had after Millwall)

If we lose against Ipswich and Leeds beat Villa then we are still favourites for promotion.

If we beat Stoke then Leeds would need to beat Ipswich by about 9 goals, not going to happen.
So even if we lose to Ipswich we are still favourites for the auto’s.

Also you can bet that Wilder will have learnt from Leeds home defeat to Wigan, there is no way he will under estimate Ipswich and he’ll have the players prepared. We just need to keep our eyes on the prize and not get complacent.

I'm not sure how that would still make us favourites
If we lost to Ipswich and Leeds beat Villa we'd be level on points
Then Leeds have an easier game than us

We could very easily get beat at Stoke, they've been disappointing this season but they have some top players.

Let's just get the job done against Ipswich and not have to go to Stoke needing a result

Agree with the comments about not getting carried away. Some people are really being silly on Twitter etc. We have not secured promotion, as yet, and the football gods could have a cruel twist in store for us.

My heart says we wont mess this up, esp given Wilder's mentality, the lads we have, BUT I'm keeping my feet on the ground until it's 100% done.
