Well was it offside or not?

Here's the appropriate part of the offside law.

Had a fair slice of luck in that game. I thought Berge was interfering and I thought the Lowe hold in the second half and the Berge handball in the first half could’ve both been penalties.

If Berge hadn’t been so slow to get his leg off he would definitely have been offside. As it was, the ball was past him before his leg moved, so I don’t think that he was.

What exactly is the rule? I thought he had to be occluding the sight of the goalkeeper or stopping a Sunderland defender being involved in play for it to be offside? And neither happened.

Berge’s handball would’ve defo been given by VAR under the new handball laws.

Yes offside. However I dont believe that rule really works in situations like that. I get when much closer to the keeper with less of a high line it makes sense but not there.
