It was a marginal call both in terms of offside and interference. Unlucky for us, but if we don’t want VAR then we have to accept the on field call in such circumstances.

We have VAR because so many are unable to accept these decisions.
Thank goodness VAR wasn't involved. We would have still been there at
midnight😉

Why is everyone ignoring Sydie’s shirt being pulled?

Peck was at worst level with Campbell when he was flagged offside. It’s a poor and incorrect call.

Agree totally and goal should have stood he wasnt impeding the player their player had hold of his shirt even before Campbell had the ball right until it went in. Pulling and pushing Peck Also he didnt do anything about Armstrong when he could have seriously injured Souza at the end didnt do anything about the "assault" on Moore either.

The correct answer is that it is impossible to tell from that position.

I don't recall ever seeing a goal awarded for an off side player interfering with a defender. Obstructing the goalie yes. Is it possible that the lino thought Peck got a touch on the ball?

The ref had a solid game for me last night and got 99% of the decision spot on .The 1% was the off side goal

Just listened to Not the Top 20. Surprise surprise, those two clowns think Bristol were better than us, the pen was at best debatable, Dickie definitely shouldn’t have been sent off, campbell’s goal defo offside. Grudgingly saying O’Hare MIGHT have meant his flick, but with sarcastic overtones that he obviously didn’t. In summary, one refereeing decision “not in the spirit of the play offs” has ruined the tie.

What have United ever done to these two twats?
I meant The Second Tier Podcast!!! Apologies to the NTTT podders!!

It's almost as though the lino was told to put his flag up. The last fans to understand what's going on are the ones in the ground. I would love to see an official explanation
No official explanation is needed. Even the commentators understood. What happened was that the linesman spotted (or believed) that Peck was in an offside position and the referee and linesman, via their walkie-talkies, discussed whether or not he was interfering with play. The ref came to the conclusion that he was interfering so both men then signalled offside.

Not a ref so I have plausible deniability... When was the offside rule changed to take out the requirement for the ball to be played forwards? Law 11 makes no reference to it, which means a square ball or even a backwards pass would appear to be offside if made to a player in an offside position?
It's been widely believed for ages that you can't be offside if the ball is played backwards. It isn't true and it never has been true. (Even some professional footballers and pundits believe it - you aren't alone.)

We need to get it out of our head that the direction the ball is played, matters. It doesn't. It's actually pretty simple - if you are not in front of the ball when it is played, you cannot be offside. If you are in front of the ball, then you can be offside.

But I wasn't watching on TV. I was there and noone could understand why the flag went up so late. I understand now - at least I think I do😀
