What is wrong with him?…….kept referring to us “Sheffield”, does he do it deliberately?
Notice how since he left us….he always seems to be subtlety bitter about us (his boyhood club)….and he praises other clubs more.

Spent 2 minutes raving about how much he likes and rates Farke…..not one mention of Chris Wilder.
Went on about Leeds being a massive club who should be in the PL but will find it tough if they go up.
Said Sheffield have loads of top players for the Championship but doesn’t think many of them of PL standard so it would be really tough next season.
However he did rave in about Michael Cooper, saying he knows him very well due to his links at Plymouth and he says he’ll go to the top.
He quoted Brian Clough, saying a good goalie wins you 10 to 12 extra points per season, said it’s such an important position.

He never gave Sunderland a chance of promotion due them being too young and inexperienced, he always classed it as a 3 horse race.
Joked if Burnley score a goal then the fans may as well go home because Burnley have won.

Regards tonight’s match he said people are so passionate about football in these parts…..said it’s incredible
He actually said the stadium will be full and rocking 1 hour before kick-off…..what is he on about?….it’s Sheffield not Istanbul.
Ally McCoist said he’s looking forward to sampling the atmosphere.

Who gives a toss what Warnock thinks….he was here years before the even made progress. Wilder has been by far the better manager for United….Remember It’s ALL about Warnock when he gives interviews.

He despises Wilder, so hardly a surprise that he didn't mention him.

I think he's bitter that both Bassett and Wilder are thought of much more fondly than he is.

Many of us will never forgive him for the wage wrangling and speculation that he was leaving for Pompey tje 'Tevez season' that we got relegated

Went off Warnock majorly since a QPR player exposed him as dodgy… used to line his own pockets from transfers apparently and demand ‘finders fees’ for bringing players on board.

He gave us some great memories (preceded by quite a lot of mediocre ones let's not forget) but I'm sure most of us would rather not have him as an uncle or brother in law, he does appear to be a bit of an egotistical pisspot.

However, don't bloody get caught up on what anyone says on Talksport. They blatantly on any given subject just have one pundit arguing for one side, and t'other against it....you can tell half the time they don't even remotely believe in what they're saying. Radio for absolute morons. In fairness I love it me.

I once asked him at a shareholders meeting why regardless of the score did he make so many last minute substitutes and it was usually the same players
Once saw him desperate to get a player on in the last minute but the ball never went out of play. The referee blew the full time whistle and he had a paddy and stormed down the tunnel.
Blade my ass!

Sounds like he gave a detailed interview and is pretty spot on with all but the Sheffield bit.

I've loved it but this is half the story...what did he say/do? Or did he just bring you on in the 93rd minute the following Saturday to keep shtum?

Didn't need QPR player to expose him.

Plenty of rumours of him taking cash payments when bringing players on for appearance fees.

He accused me of knowing nothing about football as anyone who did would realise that he was trying to kill time. I then quoted all the substitutions he had made in the last five minutes of the match for that season, what the score was and which players were substituted.
Then thanked him for his time and sat down

My main thinking is that:

a) he resented us, because he resented McCabe whilst ever he was still here.

b) he resents us, or rather he resents Wilder more. He can't stand that Wilder is a darling of the fanbase (largely) again. IMO.

FWIW, I value them both, greatly. They gave us many happy memories and can both coexist in recent memory with equal fondness. You just have to see past Warnock's pantomime bits.

I have fond memories of Chief coming on with 30 seconds to play, hearing the final whistle and turning round and walking back off.

I don't understand why people get wound up about Sheffield.

Just shows that in many peoples eyes there's only one relevant team here.
That’s probably why he says it too, to wind them lot up (inadvertently some of our own!).

If he was calling them Sheffield, then I’d be annoyed.

Hmmmm, defensiveness tends to say a lot doesn't it?

I probably agree re most of our players. I think many fall into the sort of gap between Championship standard and PL standard. Better than Championship quality but not good enough for the PL.

His interview on sky with Pep was interesting.

He was basically trying to get Pep to agree with him that a winning team is built on a top dressing room, good man management & players working harder than the opposition.

Pep disagreed and said he’s not good at man management - it’s tactical and top players that’s the difference. It showed how the game has moved on.

Warnock knew he couldn’t challenge Pep’s view. It’s a bit different gaining a few promotions over winning every competition in the world

You almost can't compare the two though because they've got such different remits. Both are correct in their own way. For Warnock the man management and team spirit were vital, as they are for Wilder and managers of the lesser PL clubs but recruitment is probably the most important element for any club. For Pep buying the best players they can is their remit and developing youth players to sell on to stay the right side of the PL rules. Ironic I know for city.
