I'd think, "Blimey, that's a surprise! Of all the people we could have had, we had to pick Neil".

What a great idea - oh is that Mr Clough I see walking out of the door? Good grief, even the silly season doesn't deserve this thread.

I'd think that asking the irrelevant question will give all the usual suspects chance to lay into Warnock for no good reason.

Id be annoyed that he hadnt been given the England job

Bit harsh calling the question "irrelevant" - the forum is a bit quiet at the moment............

Whilst NW wouldn't be an ideal candidate, you will find that most Prem clubs do have a director of football to shield the manager from all sorts of crap.

KMc approached Graham Taylor a while back, so no doubt WHEN we get back to the prem then it will end up being offered to someone.

Barry Fry, like Warnock is a bit of a numpty and liability at times, and what we ideally need in that type of job is someone who has an affinity for the club or someone who is well respected throughout the game.

"What a waste of money" would be my first thought.
I can't recall a single example where a DoF has come in and done a good job? Just undermines the manager as far as I can see.

This has the potential to see NC end his term as manager of SUFC. In coming here he has everything in place that he needs, a good scouting network, high expectations that his players have to reflect. The loser would be SUFC, Clough would get another job and we'd once again show our talent for royally screwing up!
