So.....if these articles are to be believed, it seems that the City owners are said to be penning a huge cheque for the summer. The manner is which the have fallen away from the title race so early, is said to really disappoint the owners. The expect Champions League football next season and are willing to fund wholesale changes in order to challenge next year.
It is rumoured that a few players will be allowed to leave next year, in order to accommodate new arrivals. One of the names deemed surplus to requirements would be Kyle Walker, despite having time remaining on his contract. His market value will have dropped significantly, in comparison to what they paid for him...
So I guess the question is being posed a little earlier?
We all know that Wilder is an admirer, he is said to have had a word after to City game....telling him that he would take him to the lane. It seems like a natural move all round really, he loves the club and said himself that he would like to finish here if he could.
The question being? Where does Walker fit into our current system? He'touching 30, but I would like to think that he still has enough in him to play that wing back role. I can't even believe that I am having to think about this....a player of Walker's calibre should be a complete no brainer shouldn't it!
There is 100% a role for him with us, it's just the finer terms really isn't it. If he is made available in the summer, then what would he a sensible amount to pay for him services? And what sort of salary would he dictate from us?....it's a brave move that has to suit all parties, as opposed to bringing him here solely on sentiment!
Interesting....
