Thats what Im thinking but I struggle to explain my self as clearly as that so cheers. Klaatu Barada Nikto i think iv got wrong end of thread, I wouldnt knock someone out for calling me names or whatever, being round metal etc we get insulted all time but just move on to next lot. I was telling love walrus Dave that violence is natural after he told me it wasnt, after I had said it was.
I agree with you. I have a wife, 4 daughters & 3 granddaughters (so far 😊). If anyone posed a threat to them I would do whatever it took to protect them. Absolutely no question about that.

I know genuinely hard men, I imagine we all do. Generally absolutely sound blokes, but you know if trouble comes to them they will sort it. My oldest brother (RIP) was one. He was a Coldstream Guard who was a bit unhinged & caused the family no end of worry until he got a bit older & a wife civilised him.

What I don’t like is “hard men” who seek to intimidate simply because they can and who seem to extract some sort of sadistic pleasure from doing it. You always feel a bit uneasy around them, expecting something to kick off out of nothing. They ruin many a good night out. Worse, they tend to have a little gaggle of sycophantic wankers around them who egg them on. Thankfully, they are pretty rare these days. But from various stories it does sound as if Billy Whitehurst was one of those.

No lol but that doesnt change much me mush! Your whole body reacts to anger or danger, your blood rushes, your brain runs sharper. Its always gunna be a part of us, its whats kept us alive all these thousands of years. God knows how many people enjoy watching or training in boxing who class themselves as non violent. The violence in em is dormant but its there. Dave is a Walrus of love, but Dave has got that dog in him somewhere 😉
I’m very well aware that that dog is in me, but I’ve learnt how to keep it on a very tight leash when I see another dog coming. Having seen your reply #120, I think I now better understand your point. We’ve all got the potential for extreme violence in us. What I was reacting to was your implication ( as I read it) that it’s somehow OK to let the dog off the leash if the other dog wants it. I’m sad to say that I’ve seen lives ruined as a result of that behaviour, as a result of arguments over things that really don’t matter. I loved watching football hardmen giving and taking it on the football field in years gone by ( and still would if they were allowed on the pitch!), but some of the posts on here ( not yours) seem to glorify it at a different level of punching people in pubs, which is a stupid and inexcusable game of roulette.
