Every Blade knew that the ghost goal would come back to haunt us ,not only are we bottom of the VAR table but we have the absolute mockery of being cheated out of two points . Yes it has been one hell of a season but this could be our best chance of a European place for many a year ( I have been waiting since Birmingham 1974 to come close ) but i will feel bitter and twisted if we miss out.

That would have put us 1-0 up with half the game to go.
Not a definite '2 points lost'

Once again, the ONLY FACT was that the ball was over the line as shown from the SKY camera from the goal line view - everything else about the game is opinion and speculation.

At 1 nil up we could have gone on to score 3 - we have recent history of doing just that against a poor Villa team.

UTB

Its not just that goal its the poor performance at Newcastle, poor performance at Leicester etc we should be challenging top 4 spot never mind 6th.

I think we’ll be more than 2 points behind at the final reckoning , I dont see us getting s result at Southampton if I’m honest.
The enforced break definitely helped Spurs as they’d lost Kane & Son til the end of the season if it would have been played through but it is what it is .
Would be nice to finish what’s been a hell of a season with a couple of wins but it’s not to be , were probably a hell of a lot higher in the table than anyone thought we’d be last August

.....unless it doesn't...!! I don't think we'll make Europe, but I've seen enough unlikely things happen in football, to never give up whilst there's a chance!!

We Blades have to stop this 'cheated out of 2 points' mantra. It is simply not true. A goal in the first half changes the game, but who knows, it could have gone the other way.

All teams have bad performances.
All teams will have had borderline refereeing/VAR decisions go against them.
We are the only team to have a definite 100% goal ruled out due to a combination of faulty/not switched on technology and the cowardice of VAR officials in refusing to overrule a clearly wrong decision.

We as a club have every right to be furious if we miss out on Europe, with it’s accompanying prestige and financial boost, as a result.
Certain other clubs and their well-placed fans in the media would not just meekly accept it.p as we have been forced to.
Where are the “occluded” images from six of the Hawkeye cameras for starters?
Do you think Neville and Carragher and Keane would not be demanding to see them if it was their team involved?

Tye game finished nil nil so therefore if that goal had been rightly awarded it would have been.one nil

It's not over yet but can I point out we also lost 2 games 3 nil in a row.

We've had a stellar season, Europe or not. Let's see.

That doesn't acknowledge how goals change games.

A 1-0 lead would have changed the way both managers would approach the game, the subs/changes in system they would make.

Villa would have been forced to be more open and adventurous, would that have resulted in 2,3 and 4 for Blades?
Or would Villa have got back in the game?

This thread is clearly us Blades fans having a bit of a rant... however irrational it could be it’s for us to get it off our chest.
Can’t you just leave it... for once!

I must have missed the part where Aston Villa could have scored but chose not to.

If Villa scored twice after the goal was missed, and it finished 2-0, the first reaction would be "Goals change games!".
Nobody would have said, "oh well, we would have lost 2-1 anyway".

I'm not saying Blades wouldn't have won.....There's just no guarantee.

I wish we (the fans) would shut up about being “bottom of the VAR table”. Essentially, it means that we had MOST wrong referee/lino decisions go in our favour in the first place.

The Villa debacle is fair game for a complaint though - that was an almighty cock-up by the referee team.

If the worse does happen, and it costs us a European spot, then I would fully support the owner throwing a wobbler and taking legal action. So outrageous and incompetent was a) the initial error, and b) the 'explanation' from Hawkeye.

I would understand those who disagree, as we have spent enough time in the courts recently, and our last return to the PL ended in legal controversy, but I cannot stomach the thought of them getting away with it scott free. At the every least, we deserve a financial settlement comparable to what a Europe place would have given us.

We haven't lost from.a leading position since 2014

But they didn't score.

I can't speak for anybody else but if it had finished 2-1 that's exactly what I would have said.
