Were disappointed

Hmm, it seems strange getting someone in on loan who's not ready to go. My only thought is that we might be looking to keep him longer term and this was an opportunity to get him in despite not being fully fit. It's just seemed an odd one
Probably both. The old adage that he probably wouldn’t be available to someone like us if he was match fit and ready to go. A bit like Tom Davies

But it was always going to be one of us 3 since about January.

One team had to miss out. Sadly it's us. Of course it's us, especially given we were in the driving seat for so long and seemed to have overcome the tougher games.

But we still have a chance to go up. I fully realise we are cursed in the playoffs but like Wilder says it will happen one day that we do in fact win them.
Its football. You don't throw the towel in. Especially given we have the quality to do it.

And perhaps it's better if you do miss out to do it before the season ends? Get mentally and physically prepared for the playoffs.

At least whoever we play in them we will have tasted victory against them all at least once...

As crap as it is, you have to hand it to Burnley and Leeds they've not let up. We did even though our points total (if we win next 2) usually would result in a top 2 finish.
Regardless of how the 3 games went against Oxford, Plymouth & Millwall. If you lose home & away to Burnley & Leeds then they simply deserve to go up more than we do.

We could be sat here 1 point clear if we’d have won those three games but in reality that was a tough ask. Leeds & Burnley have been relentless all season & their final points tally will show that

My concern is that we do not have a dominant CB. Anel struggles against big strong CB's (Millwall and Pompey being prime examples), and Robinson has far more pashun than ability. Holding played well against Cardiff but was dropped again.

We miss Souttar enormously, and our whole team, approach and style of play has been set up around him.
We had six weeks to get a replacement for Souter. Six weeks

If we'd got the job done against those teams and missed out on the last day due to the 2 point deduction, I think it provides the players somewhere else to point the finger. We'd go into the play offs off the back of a disappointment and provides an excuse if we lost in the play offs to someone with 30 fewer points than we got.

Instead, we missed out on the top 2 down to our own failings on the field right when it mattered but there's at least some time to get over it and try and build some momentum after winning at home to Cardiff and simply being beaten yesterday by a better team.

I just don't get how we bring a player in, presumably for a specific purpose and presumably on a not unsubstantial wage and that player not be fit enough to contribute more than they have.
I get that we’re looking for cast offs in January, that’s the market. However to then have a player who is better than what we already have and not get him match fit over a number of weeks is absolute stupidity on Wilder’s behalf.

Almost unforgivable in reality.

Yes we needed more firepower and although I was delighted Tom Cannon got his goal yesterday (at last!) the priority should have been a centre half. One of the biggest head scratchers for me has been the thought that JLT is somehow a better option than Holding. Anel played LCB alongside Souttar and we were solid so why not play him there alongside Holding?

Another mystery, like playing BBD on the right when he is far better on the left....

Who would you have picked?
Were they available?
How much would they cost?
Would they have come?

I am sure that an internal discussion was had before all of the signings....

Maybe they just forgot about it and only remembered when someone had a peek at the forum and it reminded them.

(That's irony, or sarcasm, or something like that)

Leeds beat us 5-1 over 2 games, Burnley beat us 4-1 over 2 games.

12 points difference. We are where we deserve to be, we were pinching wins by playing shit, ugly football for a huge chunk of this season. As much as this is an art it will eventually catch up with you in the long run.

Wilder has time to fix it and get the best out of a very talented squad for the play off campaign, will he? Not so sure he is capable.
Leeds is a more talented squad.
Burnley is a more talented squad.
They were put together using bigger finances than ours.

Our squad is more talented than the others in the playoffs, and costs mort than theirs.
Over a season the better squad normally comes out on top, but in one-off games that doesn’t always happen.
If we go through it will be down to a combination of lots of different factors and people: the manager’s contribution will be a minor factor in my view.

Wilder had been there before with O'Connell. He never learns as he is incapable. When it became clear there were three teams with high points totals it was obvious United would shit the bed. We don't deserve promotion and Wilder certainly doesn't.
But three teams go up. Who deserves it more than us? Sunderland 10 points behind? Bristol City or Coventry 20 points behind?

We’ve won far more than all of them and lost the same as or fewer than all of them.

We didn’t deserve to go up top two, but we definitely deserve to be up over those three!
