Ah.....there's a cunning logic that only a pig can understand, the lower they go the bigger they become,
well their slide to obscurity seems well under way.......Broad sword to Danny boy!
If the line on the graph goes low enough it falls off the bottom and goes back round to the top again, don't you know anything about data analysis

These will be grown men too. Lets not forget it was only a few years ago that we couldn't afford to put the heating on and even then we didn't get close to a winding up order. Funniest thing is he claims it's because we owe The Prince £10m obviously not knowing The Prince has a great relationship with the owners and might even end up back on the board at some point
I spoke to a Wednesday fan at the pub yesterday (he'd left the game early) and got onto the topic of ownership. Said I'd seen a few fans turn their noses up at the idea of Mike Ashley. Argued that he would at least stabilize the club which is something they need right now and to eventually build upon, despite him not being the most ambitious.

His reply? As you'd expect. "We don't need to stabilize, we need a chunk of money throwing at it". and then went on about some bloke who owns Walmart.

They don't learn and they never will. Creating strong foundations and building from them is alien to them. The only option in their eyes is to spunk millions of millions of pounds without contingency or budget. Clearly worked for them brilliantly in recent times.

Mike Ashely kept Newcastle stable and was happy to pump all the PL riches back in, he jsut didn't want to spunk millions of his own.

I'm not sure that a balanced budget could really work in the Championship, due to the ludicrous wage levels, meaning most clubs lose at least £10m per year. At that kind of level, maybe he'd top things up, but at least he would certainly stabilise the club.

I still laugh how Chansiri was treated as god, until he ran out of money. The poor sap spunked over £100m of his own money on them, but because he didn't have any more to spend, the deluded now hate him.

About as deluded as they come, Walmart are 65% publicly listed with the other 45% being owned by the Walmart family which makes up 7 shareholders through a trust fund. Although Walmart are huge, I doubt they would have even heard of Sheffield since most of the family are from a rural background, the only one that has a sports interest is in the NFL in Denver Broncos (Samuel Walton) but he is 81 so not exactly an age where he would be on the look out for a "soccer" team.

The city is big enough for 2 professional sides and if they started their academy programmes properly and slowly build on that foundation they could be producing players like us. When was the last Sheffield Wednesday academy player to play for England 1st team? Accordingly to Google that was David Hirst in 1992 not sure if correct?

I can never work out why they lie to each other.
Because they get off on it. It’s like Top Trumps for bullshitters.

Mystery average attendances that never happened. A European adventure after winning the most prestige trophy in English football. Imaginary fans of highly successful clubs that are just begging for fellow behemoth Wednesday to ascend to their deserved place among the pantheon of giants. The long serving Scottish troglodyte that is a prime example of true loyalty, swerving the fact that he’s 35 now and won’t get a pay day to match the one Chansiri gave him anywhere else. Mr Tom, Asda, Sanderson, Chupa Chups. Vardy coming home. The Old Lady. Needing and soon to be getting a shiny new stadium to accommodate the 40,000, no, make that 50,000 fans that will come every week.

It’s all bullshit, and they lap it up and exaggerate at the next telling.

And they ignore the facts. Because they don’t fit the narrative.

I'm astounded they think they can buy their way out of the embargoes. If they can, then it's a blueprint for every other club to take the piss.

Their very real problem is that anyone buying them has got to accept that they will lose money for a good few years as the embargoes will prevent manoeuvrability. It doesn't matter how much you've got, if you can't spend it, then you've got to suck up being in L1 for a bit.

I suspect some of the names linked won't want a medium/long term project, so will seek ownership elsewhere.

Make no mistake, with a poor academy, a ramshackle ground, poor training facilities as well as a squad which is close to worthless, someone is going to have to put a ton of money in, over a long period just to get them at the same level as most of the Championship clubs, many of whom have recent EPL involvement and stadiums and training facilities to match - Leicester, Swansea, Stoke, Middlesbrough, Watford. Southampton - most have relatively new stadiums and good academies. Wednesday are miles behind.

They really don't realise how much shit they are in. Mike Ashley is a trader, he'll only get involved if he can turn the asset around quickly which is what he did at Newcastle and more recently Coventry. Both had good stadiums though. Personally I can't see him going for it - particularly with the sh1t he got when he owned Newcastle. He only owned the ground at Coventry, and just sold that back to them for £40m - presumably at a profit?

I can't see what he would get out of owning a team he can't turn round quickly, who play in a ground that wants demolishing.

They signed David Hirst from Barnsley

Mel Sterland I suspect. 1 cap in 1988 v Saudi Arabia.

Think of all the players we've produced and sold since 1992, many of whom have played at the highest level. Walker, Maguire, Jags, Calvert Lewin, Osula, Adams, etc. The only frustration being that, similar to our years in the PL, we've not used this to firmly establish ourselves way above them.

So it’s our players fault for having things thrown at them for celebrating in front of our fans. Where are they supposed to celebrate

Get with the programme chesblade, they’d have been better off not celebrating at all.

“I honestly couldn’t give a flying fizz about today’s result."

Yeah, right!

Actually there were quite a few realists commenting there.

Hood collection Roygbiv thank you.
I’m sure he has suitable attire for all occasions.

Although I am firmly of the opinion that anyone over 30 with a hoodie is just wrong.

Mind you, I can’t stand a hood Ona coat. If I have one I must have it as a detachable job.

Hats are far better. More stylish too.

The Wednesday Til I Die Podcast fella (he was a guest on one of ours, I don't listen to their stuff) said that If they're sold for under something like £30m then they automatically get deducted 10-15 points next season.
He also said that Chansiri is entitled to £20m from their sale. So, a 'cheeky bid' isn't going to work for a potential buyer, that buyer is also going to have to waste a lot of money before he even starts a rebuild.
I've no idea how the embaros will hold up though. The EFL seem to change their stance on it every week. How they've brought Cooper in for instance (even on a free) is beyond me.

“Let them celebrate their cup final. We need to keep ourselves laser focused on a better long term future”

i was saying this last night. united in every derby treat it as a cup final & have point to prove. that why we have as unbeaten for long as we have been. they seem to think its beneath them

Just fucking wow
'This could conceivably be the last time they ever beat us!'
'February?...they may be in administration and a worse position than us by far'
I just cannot get my head around the fact that not only has this been posted, but people are actually nodding along as if it's a completely rational thought.

They're in administration, cannot sign players unless they are free and only with signed approval from the league, have a squad that is held together with Sellotape, and are starting from scratch in League One, with another possible points deduction to come. And we'll never beat the again.

You know what, it must be nice being so utterly deluded that nothing bad will ever happen again in the future, and "knowing" you're going to be the next Man City in a few years time.

Bonkers.

26 PL appearances (5 starts). Has also played for Scotland but don't forget, David made sure he got away from S6 as quickly as possible so he's considered a pariah.
So basically the only decent prospects in the last 30 years they've fucked off, Hurst Jr & Vardy.

Oh, and anyone remember the French international, Francis had on trial in 1991, and said wasn't good enough, so he went to Leeds, won the title, then shagged Leslie Ash, so over the Pennines to Man Utd where he did ''ok''??
