Pig levels of delusion. They battered us did they? Well the stats tell a different story.

So suck on my big juicy lemons to sour Smoggy Bastards, and hope your team gets some shooting practice next week.

Match stats, courtesy of the Beeb
Blades/Sunderland

Possession - 49.9/50.1
Shots - 14/16
Shots on target - 4/2
Shots of Target - 4/6
Blocked shots - 6/8
Touches in opponents box - 21/39
GK saves - 2/3
Fouls - 12/8
Corners - 8/8

That's a very fair contest in any reasonable person's mind. They looked silkier on the ball and I don't think anyone would argue they had the first half. But if you can't convert a penalty in such a tight contest you only have yourselves to blame. The 2nd half however was ours, especially the last 30 mins. We created the two best chances from open play in the whole match, Siriki's shot and the Davies goal.

Absolutely dominated us by having 50% possession, two shots on target, of which one was a penalty, to our four, and by scoring no goals to our one.

Football gives no points for artistic impression, so you can't win if you can't put the ball in the net.

These Temu geordies sound remarkably like our similarly bitter and underachieving neighbours.

Must be difficult trying to seem relevant when your nearest rivals consistently out-perform you on and off the pitch.
Agree but I’d describe the pigs as over achieving. They’ll not finish as high as their current league position.

To be honest I understand the bitterness given the way the game went as they 'deserved' to win it let alone get nothing, but any football fan who's seen more than half a dozen games should be used to that concept.

"Sheff United will go up and get pummelled every week again"

This I agree with. Without a change in ownership we will, not that it's the owner's fault he's not super rich but we'd need 9 new starters to be remotely competitive and that's not going to happen.

So would Sunderland, though they don't appear to realise that, which is a surprise given how often they've also been relegated with embarrassingly low points totals. Maybe they haven't noticed how much harder it is to stay up now? Bless.

Yes they were much more fluid than us in the first half, they had a few half chances but didn't take them and then missed a penalty. The stats on every metric show a very even game because we got stronger in the second half. Our substitutions from Seriki onwards were the difference, it wasn't necessirly the quality of the player coming on but the tactical changes they brought with it. Seriki coming on meant we could move Gilchrist to centre half and we had a more attacking threat down the right hand side. Contrast this to Sunderland who following the sending off opted to do nothing. Playing one centre back with a midfield player dropping back when we were attacking. The result was clear as the game went on they were knackered. When we brought Davies and One on it wasn't a random substitution, it was accompanied by a tactical change and the whole team pushed on to press much deeper in their half which resulted in more pressure on them, a goal and importantly allowing us to see the game out not by defending deep on the edge of a box but defending high and pressing them. Even the Sam McCalum substitution in stoppage time had a tactical element. We struggled to keep the ball when Cooper kicked long all night. Cooper kicked twice in stoppage time to McCalum who won both headers, we won a corner from one a throw deep in their half from the other. After the game their manager said they didn't want to change and were sticking to their principles Well their principles have got them 5 points from the last 6 games compared to our 16 points.

Announcement Tomorrow

The team that beat them:

Cooper (2 million)
Souttar (loan)
Robinson (500k)
Burrows (3 million).
Gilchrist (loan)
JRS (1 million loan fee)
Peck (academy)
One (academy)
T Davies (free).
McCallum (free)
T Campbell (free)
Callum O' Hare (free)
Hamer (13 million)
Souza (8 million)
RND (academy).
Seriki (academy)

The only players that have made a big impact on our season that didn't play are Moore (1.5 million) Arblaster (academy) and Anel (4 million?).

8 of United's current 25 man squad are academy graduates. The only remaining big name from Prem season 1+2 under Wilder is Brewster (who didn't feature).

United signed one permanent player in five transfer windows prior to the last promotion. Our wage bill is unlikely to be high due to the huge exodus at the start of this season, and most of the squad being on academy money or contracts signed in the Champ.

Outs for big money to fund current crop: Berge, Ndiaye, Osula, Lankshear, Jebbison, Traore, Trusty, Bogle, Archer (mandatory buy back clause). Those lot absolutely dwarf the expenditure on incomings. The bulk of the money above is from academy player sales, not selling Prem bought players.

It's a huge chance for clubs like Sunderland to finish above the likes of United and Luton. We aren't normal parachute clubs.

That should be posted on Porktalk.

Fuck Sunderland, who do they think they are ? Two shots on target and one was a pen and they think they battered us. The scoreline says 1-0 so shove that in your pipe and smoke it....and that's without 3 of our most important players in Anel, Blaster and Moore.

5 points from 6 games and only 3 goals scored and they seem ti think they are going up

Cheers Panchero!

I can only imagine that the mardy twats in the opening comments of theirs are all aged about 14 years old.

They didn't batter us. They were good, I will give them credit, very pacey, but hardly tested Cooper.

The stats are almost even, except we had more shots on target.

The ref was inconsistent; Campbell was being continually pulled back by the shirt and held, but the ref gave us nothing. He gives big H a yellow (leading to red) for the same thing.

Anyway, it was always going to be a tight game, Cooperman saves a penalty, Tom Davies does the Cinderella performance and comes on to win the game.

Oh, and for any Sunderland fans reading this, we didn't react like we had won the cup, we reacted because Tom Davies has had some terrible luck and came on and scored, and we didn't do a lap of honour, our team does that at every home game, to say thanks to the fans.

We're top of the league, we're top of the league, we're Sheff United, we're top of the league.

Wow, they're giving the pigs a run for their money in the mardy bum stakes. They honestly have a problem with Wilder because their arrogant manager wouldn't shake Wilder's hand 🤣? How the hell is that Wilder's fault?!

They had the first half, we had the second. We kicked the ball in the net and in truth, pen aside, they never really looked likely too. It was a brain dead decision from Souttar to get the second yellow that in all likelihood kept them in a game. Hamer's superb first time pass leading to the straight red had unlocked the game for us. The sort of quality you rarely see in the Championship. They were looking at 50-55 minutes 10 vs 11 which would've been very difficult for them.
Tbh they had two other glorious chances to score and got it all wrong one four yards out the other to coopers right again should have scored but shot wide

I must have missed it in the summer but did Sunderland change their badge to a bag of limes?

Right, hang on a minute....many have rightly pointed out their hilariously petty and bitter reaction to the match itself, our reaction to winning and being top of the league, and their pointing out our points deduction, parachute payments and wrongly talking about the amount of money our squad cost (assembled for nowt because we have nowt).

But please allow me to point out the following irony;

YOU'RE OWNED BY AN AMERICAN MULTI BILLIONAIRE YOU DAFT CUNTS!!!!

I’d be salty too in their position. But at times like these it really is best to put the internet down and reflect on the fact that games are decided in front of goal.

They’re an impressive side - young, quick, well coached and play with real intensity. Getting there on a championship budget isn’t easy - I wonder if they’ll gamble in January?

Morning Roygbiv, well I'm lost for words reading that. So all I can say is , you've seen United now fuck off home 🏡. Thank you for your time and effort again 👍🏻 🍻🍻🍻

These people will soon make their fucking minds up about us. Either we’re so advantaged by parachute payments it makes us far superior to the rest of the league, or we’re utter shite and in a false position in the table. So what is it?

Thanks Roy.

Deluded set of fans. Expect no less to a team that plays second fiddle to Newcastle. 😂

They do make a point that I have meant to bring up for a while though...

This squad seem to enjoy playing football together and for some reason seem to enjoy winning. Can we please put a stop to this.

This connection with the fan base has no place in modern football.

I expect to see the team not give a shit next week and then walk straight down the tunnel and go home.

I am now looking for Airbnb in Sunderland as it seems to be an absolutely miserable place

It’s a bit rich that they are complaining about parachute payments. Only a few years ago they had two years of premier league parachute payments in League One. They were blowing other sides at that level out of the water in terms of wages and transfer fees and still couldn’t manage to get promoted. The daft twats.

Thanks Roy.
What a bunch of tossers!!! 🤣🤣🤣
