Hardly a battering...

Fair enough, after the first ten minutes up until their sending off they were all over us, but I thought we edged it at 10 vs 10. I can’t recall Coops having a save to make after half time.

They have some decent players, a lot of energy and athleticism and are brave on the ball, but are lacking where it matters - in the final third. They were massively overperforming for XG earlier in the season. I expect them to tumble down the table now.
I think it was a lack of experience on their side compared to ours. We know how to grind out big wins.

We have earned that parachute money completely on our own, we made profit from transfers every season on our rise to the premiership so I totally ignore the complaints we get about that.

These can't be Sunderland fans! Sure he's not got the view from Wednesday mixed up?

Truth be told flip it other way and I'd be pee'd at not winning or taking something. They were the better team for larger parts than us. And missed a pen.
That said we defended well when needed too.

I think what Sunderland are kinda missing is that, we can play better than that. Yes we weren't at our best but found a way to win. That can bode well for teams gunning to go up.

'having dominated the supposed top side we go home with nothing'

Maybe they got this idea that they dominated from our shout box, which I briefly looked at in an attempt to distract me from the commentators, who were non stop gushing about the young lad Watson.

He may well be a good prospect, but he never looked like he would deliver.

We created problems for ourselves through wasteful play from several players. It also seems like a night when none of the loose balls fell for us, until one did. 1-0 and thank you very much.

mmmmm a salty breakfast.
Parachute payments are open to all but there’s a catch……you must get promoted first !
Another team of divers got what they deserved(NOWT).
We were very poor first half and kept giving the ball away and they just weren’t good enough to capitalise .We had double their shots on target and dominated the second half.
Great win.
UTB.

Sunderland did show why they are up there, as I expected them to. It's no fluke and they will remain in the top 6. Hopefully they don't see us again, the 5 point gap this result creates is significant

They might have shaded it, but it was very even and the stats reflect that:

Well, it was so nice to wake up this morning as a supporter of such a wealthy club as United - has anyone told the Prince by the way?

If that was us getting battered then I'll settle for that every week - minus the sendings off of course.

No disrespect at all to Sunderland, I was impressed by them.
They've got a really talented young group of players.

I'm not sure I fully recognise the "battering" or "domination" that they speak of though.
I think the game had multiple momentum shifts.

I felt we looked in control for the first 15 minutes.
Then they dominated then next 25 mins until their red card (40 mins), including a missed penalty.
We then we dominated until our own red card (45 mins) in the final stages.

Undoubtedly, they started the second half the brightest and had the better of the play until around 65 mins.
They created some opportunities, but not many were clearcut.

The final 30 mins, I agree with Wilder.
Whilst we weren't exactly dominating, I never felt they would score and I felt we were the more likely... eventually we did score (83 mins) and Sunderland didn't really trouble us for an equaliser in the final 10.

I was really impressed by Watson and Bellingham and it's easy to see why they're where they are.
I would be shocked if they slip out of the top six race as a minimum.

Their comments really lack balance.
A cracking away performance from a really good, young side.
They deserved a point and it wouldn't have been a smash-and-grab had they won, but give over with the hyperbole.

Also, the usual bollocks about us being a parachute club.
They need to remember how we got access to those payments in the first place. Out of League 1 & into the Prem with a tiny budget.
This season, have a look at our outgoings and incomings to see the scale of the rebuild we had to go through.

Ugggh they've just salted all over my cereal.
Battered us? They scored ZERO by the way and our goalscorer cost sweet FA.

I say this every week, if these tin pot clubs want parachute payments, get promoted. They all laugh that we did so badly in the Prem, then moan about the PP. That's before we get into how much money we brought in compared to what we spent.

Anyway, have that ya Giro Geordies!!

Cheers Roy.

Marry gits aren’t they? If they earn tthe right to go up and earn the right to get parachute payments when relegated, I’m sure they’ll be the first to say “not for us mate, it’s not fair on the rest of the Championship”

Oh, and those “over the top celebrations” were more about celebrating with Tom Davies after his incredible fight back from a long term injury and getting the match winner.

“The lap of honour is very small time. Don’t the fans shy away from it? They have a huge advantage, it should be very easy, but they act like it’s a huge accomplishment.”

Yeah, cos when I win a hard fought match, I usually like to celebrate by pissing off home straightaway without acknowledging anyone.

Tits.
Yeah strange one. Our players always go over and applaud the fans, it's been a thing under Wilder and Hecky now for 8/9 years.

If their players don't do it, then I'd think that's more weird!

Thanks Roy, but its a bit rich just cut and pasting the comments from the fowls fans 😂 😂 😂 keep up the good work my friend.

They were good first half, easily best team we’ve played at home so far but other than the penalty did they really test our goal? Not really. Best 2 chances minus the penalty fell for us an that’s what it’s all about. They’ll be up there for sure though.

Take away their penalty and their xG is 0.89.

Very even game. Sunderland did impress me though.
That 18yo Watson was a lovely player

We ought to sign Watson in January, what with us being flush with parachute payments. Then loan him to Newcastle next season.
