when I googled it the 6 second rule came up. Please can someone on here give a definitive answer to this with chapter and verse. There are I know those with referee qualifications who post. Surely there must be something in the rules otherwise a GK can just hang on to the ball for an indefinite time?

Its still in the 2020-21 laws of the game on the fa website in the indirect free kick section of law 12

All sounds like Tim nice but dim running the show. Know nowts running the game. Most pens aren't even pens, unless they changed that rule too. Most ex players who are pundits claim it's a pen if they go down in the box from the slightest of contact. A pen is supposed to be for a goal scoring opportunity. How many goals are scored when a player is running away from goal then goes down but they get a pen. Even when there is an actual foul or handball but no chance of scoring they automatically give a pen when the rules state indirect free kick.

I think you're mixing up penalty-awarding offences with red-card offences.

They did yesterday in the Liverpool-Leeds game.

Player was offside, it was close, but linesman didn't flag. It went out for a corner, then the linesman flagged and offside was given.

On the replay it shown the player was actually onside, and the lino was wrong.

You'll never win no matter what the rule is unfortunately.

we say it every week. but offside worked on the "does he look offside" perfectly fine for nearly 150yrs & the still image for VAR should make this even easier. because i can look at that picture see mane looks onside & gained no advantage. but this rule has nearly destroyed the game in 2 years (3 if you count Southampton v derby in fa cup)

There should only be three parties involved in a football match. The two teams and the officials in the stadium. The only reason for a fourth party being involved should be a the behest of the referee on the pitch. VAR should never poke their nose into preceding on the pitch unless invited to do so.

VAR is absolute horseshit and has been since its implementation.Goal celebrations to a point are more mellow than normal due to waiting for somebody to review,refs have been called out for good reason due to bad calls,etc

VAR sounded alright when first discussed but now just really needs to be out of the game ASAP

Anyone here saw the penalty decision in the Leeds / Leicester game last night.?
Something doesn’t add up at all in the sequence of events.
There seemed like an age and a lot of play between the foul and when Stockly Park requested the ref to view it on the monitor. They must have studied every angle over and over again considering the time it took While play continued.
When the ref looked at the monitor, the frame was frozen, he waited a while then was shown it once from one angle. He made the decision instantly and pointed to the spot.
The question this throws up is why did the VAR team take so long reviewing the footage (minutes), when all it needed was one short look from the ref. Weird! Why was he only shown one specific angle?
My take on it is that Stockly Park and the VAR team don’t need anymore bad press, so they told the ref the decision was a penalty in his earpiece and to quickly go to the monitor and pretend he made the decision.
The refs on field decision will get less criticism. It all looked so false.
Shouldn’t the ref just use the monitor straight away? It’s not good for fans.
We’ll see more of this, I’m sure.

Frankly,this professional referee bollocks just dictates the appointment of blokes who’ve never kicked a ball in their lives, asking them to control a game they’ve never played and make judgements over situations they’ve never experienced. Bill Shankleys observation that they ‘Know the rules, but they don't know the game’ has surely never been more pertinent?

VAR Was introduced to stop clear and obvious mistakes so when we scored against villa and the goal wasn’t given was that not a clear and obvious mistake stick Var up your arse
