Last summer's recruitment. Fees from memory. 2/3 year contracts presumably:

Baldock £650k
Evans £500k
Lundstram £400k?
Stevens Free.
Thomas £ 290k
Henegan £300k
Stearman £1m
Blackman loan
Vickers loan.

Fees and wages. Do they represent good business? They are being tested now we have numerous players absent.

My view is that Wilder will be disappointed with them as a group but it is early days even now.

Baldock £650k - Great business IF he can stay fit
Evans £500k - We'll see if this operation works out his ankle demons, we know the amount was a lot less so not bad business we all said at the time it was a low risk punt
Lundstram £400k? - Good to bring in as a squad player, wouldn't say it was bad business
Stevens Free. - Great Business
Thomas £ 290k - Yet to really be seen but another low risk punt which could still work out
Henegan £300k - see above
Stearman £1m - At the moment it doesn't look like great business but he's only had a handful of games so undecided on this one at the moment.
Blackman loan - Good Business
Vickers loan. - Good Business

Let's try and get the fees more accurate first...

Blackman - Loan
Carter-Vickers - Loan
Baldock - 300k
Stearman - 800k
Stevens - Free
Heneghan - 300k
Lundstram - 600k
Thomas - 200k
Evans - 250k
Donaldson - 50k

I think Wilder's had to try and pull too many rabbits out of the hat but he's done alright all things considered. I rated our summer business at 7/10 at the time and I probably wouldn't change that now. Remember we kept everybody too.

I thought Stevens was our best signing all things considered and that looks to be the case - he's been the only mainstay.

Baldock's another excellent value signing as long as he stays fit.

Stearman looks like the poorest value so far. Not that I think he's a poor player. But if we're spending near a million on someone he needs to be an important first team regular.

A number of them were 'punts'. Some will come off, some won't. If half of them do then we will have done good business overall.

Jury is out on Evans (:)), Thomas, Henegan and Stearman. Baldock and Stevens look a steal and could step up another level. Lundstram could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business I feel once Fleck and Duffy return.

I don’t think Stears cost £500k, let alone a million.

Little Louis Reed’s wages have been very poor value. I wouldn’t spend a penny more on them personally.

If people think £1m for Stearman is expensive then they’ve not been keeping up with the news. In current championship terms, it’s not much at all.

Hákarl !!!

It's all relatively very modest spending for a Championship team so good value for money overall considering our league position.

I think we've bought two good championship quality players in Edna and Baldock. GVFM.

Lundstram- Think he's decent young player who will get better...GVFM.

Can't argue with the loan signings so far...CCV has had a wobble, but that's a risk with bringing in such young players in key positions. no idea what we're paying em so can't say about value.

Stearman is a decent Championship CB...but value for money? Perhaps not.

Thomas-who knows whats going o n there, expected him to make an appearance before now, so not GVFM

Henegan-one for the future (or not, as the case may be)

Evans- Appeared to be crocked when bought, again, who knows wtf is going on here...not GVFM as yet...

Its reported that the Blades spent around £3.2 m on transfers. Your figure for Lundstram should be £700k but includes add ons as does Baldocks and Thomas. Evans figure is more like £250k. Add on loan fees for CCV and Blackman then the total spend figure seems accurate.

Blackman and CCV for youngsters have done well in patches, Stevens until recent form was the outstanding buy. Baldock looks the part but have we bought a sick note? Jury out on Evans and Stearman due to injury. Thomas and Heneghan haven't had a chance to impress, maybe they'll get one now with all the injuries. Lundstram doesn't look championship standard but £700k is small beer for a championship midfielder. Overall in terms of value we've done ok but nothing spectacular.

Its not CW who will be disappointed, he had his hands tied with a small budget and he will argue he's done his best with the tools at his disposal. The problem is the Board expecting bargain basements to continue in the championship. CW is now making noises about not having a squad full of championship quality players. He needs to be backed in the JTW.

When wheeling and dealing you aren't going to get them all spot on, 1/3 strike rate of successful first team additions seems good based on the money spent. If we were chucking £5m per player about I'd expect all but the odd one of 10 to be first team stars.

The signing who was closest to a million is currently an important first-team regular. You’re miles off on Stearman. If we’re talking accuracy...

By anybody's standards the extension of contracts for existing players from the Championship winning side is excellent and welcome business. Good management.

Were they Coutts, Fleck, Freeman, O'Connell, Duffy?, Basham. Any more?

Sharp, Wright also signed a new deal in the summer

You might as well just tell us how much they were if you know

If Stearman was much less than £1m then we should be knowing and it would take a bit of pressure off him with us fans.

Previohs summer recruits by comparison:

Fleck, O'Connell, Clarke, Duffy, Wilson, Hussey, Lavery, Moore, Wright. Any more?

And in January:

Carruthers, Hanson, Lafferty.

No wonder we won L1 looking at that quality, so many looking good in the Championship.

Tell me its not Lundstram?

I may have imagined it but I'm sure Wilder mentioned in a recent interview Stearman costing £900k

I thought £1m seemed steep for Stearman but it's the sort of figure that was generally reported. Add to that Fulham are a rich club and it seemed unlikely we'd get him cheap. So estimating 700-800k seems about right. But if anyone knows it was less, I don't see why they wouldn't say so. It would actually be beneficial.
