Utter shitshow

The last few days, on top of the transfer embargo, have been an utter shitshow from the owner of the club. I have no idea what the playing or coaching staff are thinking after the last few days of selling/not selling players but the Prince's competence has to be called into question.

We could have had a nice calm end of transfer window but no, 3 days of utter idiocy. I hope it doesn't have a detrimental effect on the players. I'm glad we haven't sold anyone but it's has felt like utter chaos.
The club made no statements and sold no one. It was a calm end to the window from that perspective.

the "shitshow" is a frenzy created by supporters who knew nothing about what the club's intentions were and engaged in wild speculation. Same for the takeover. All that time and energy wasted.

People need to accept that the current regime does not talk to the local press or make a lot of public statements. People may not like it, but that is the way it is.

In his 3 and a half years in sole charge the Prince has sold exactly one of our better players, who (a) went for a good fee (b) we haven't missed and (c) made himself look a fool in talking about the move.

We have hung on to our better players at a time when we really needed the money. From the perspective of a fan who wants us to be promoted isn't that the best outcome?

We've been laughed at for years for giving top players away, mostly under mcabe, but today we are nobody's fools.

Prince for all his lack of communication has stood to his word about the value he demands for his players, and seemingly won't budge...

Means we get to see great players on our pitch in our shirt, and if they go, we get market value - - Ramsdale..

Some moan at us for the squad and players we put out, it's a premier league first team in the championship, they've a right to feel a little put about when we had a 23m & 20m pair of strikers coming on at 60mins early in the season..

They'd have been sold in the summer every last one of them under mcabe, and we all know it..

Hope the players fancy a promotion bonus, let's get the job done now, tough games every week...

Full focus nothing won or guaranteed yet..

Best January transfer window ever….in terms of importance to the continuation of a season? Never has doing nothing been so important for us.

Credit Ndiaye and Berge who deserve tremendous support for their desire to help get the job done when they come out on Saturday.

Didn't Hecky say several days ago that keeping our squad as it is is his priority? He may be slightly disappointed at not replacing Khadra (yet) but I reckon him and his coaches will be delighted and ready to finish the season with a fresh and positive attitude, which I think more importantly will be felt by the fans, I think the atmosphere, which at times has been poor will be yanked up a few notches for the rest of the season which will play a big part on how we finish the campaign, on the front foot, type of situation that brings the best out of our fans, bring it on..

Totally disagree.

The Prince has explained the situation many times
Any player at Sheff Utd could be sold BUT only if another club meets our valuation AND we have replacements of a standard that will improve the squad lined up.

It's some of our fans that have panicked with doom and gloom predictions and surprise surprise it was all for nothing.

"We'll never buy Brewster, he's the best youngster in England, we lack ambition and won't pay his wage demands"
"We won't buy Berge, he's been chased by Napoli and Liverpool, we don't have the ambition to buy such a great player"
"If we're relegated don't expect Berge to hang arounf, he's too good for the Championship and we'll cash in whilst we can"
"The Prince is tight, so we'll sell N'Diaye as soon as the 1st decent offer comes along"

When will our fans learn to have some faith?

The Prince has now sold the club so of course he's lost interest and won't push the boat out.
However of course he won't sabotage the club either and leaves us in a much better position than when he arrived.

The embargo is nothing in reality, as soon as the takeover is agreed the EFL can take the debt out of the deposit they already have.
Of course there's serious consequences if the embargo isn't cleared inside 1 month, so of course it will be cleared.

The only time to panic is if this takeover is made up, which is unlikely
or the takeover breaks down either because it's not approved by the EFL or the new buyer decides to back out for some reason (again unlikely).
Spot on

Ndiaye is the best player in the division by a country mile. Berge is a matchwinner on his day. Jebbison is starting to look like the real deal, matching output with potential.

We’ve still got more players to return. Been a good window for us.

Now we need to roar them home to promotion. Get the job done boys.

Oh that 12 gap gap ! Scraping results, lucky to walk away from playing a non league side with a draw, nobody said it would be an easy fixture, but I'm sure Burnley would have put them away with aplomb. Boro have had a decent transfer window whereas us with predictability find way to hamstring ourselves. Tough local derby coming up. The league table says us & Burnley are the standout teams, so let's start playing like it.

Didn't we put Burnley away with aplomb?

Agree, the current squad is good enough to be promoted.

I was meaning the old adage that you try to improve from a position of strength.
Teams that aim to maintain and stand still, risk going backwards.
when we get such as Brewster and Stevens and Baldock RND and others fit be like getting new players in..all we need to have is a fully fit squad to maintain our push

Agree about the others but Stevens would not be like getting a new player in, it would be like getting an old player in who is at best third choice in his position.

January Transfer Window is just a gimmick for the media - something to revive flagging interest while the league season is in the boring bit - we've had "who's top at Christmas" , its still a long way till the run in. Way to keep people talking.

Someone done a thread on here ages ago about how hardly any players brought in during the JTW actually have any significant impact on the teams they join. So we have done well - lots of talk, lots of media exposure, haven't spent a penny and kept the squad together.

Outstanding!

Burnley who checks notes failed to put League 1 Ipswich to the sword at the first attempt in the cup?

Worth pointing out that yes Wrexham are a non-league club at the moment but do have a fair few football league players in their squad. For example that Mullin lad was the League 2 golden boot winner in 2021 for Cambridge United and got them promoted to League 1. Then rejected a new contract and dropped to non-league with Wrexham.

Do you mean that Burnley side who put lower league Ipswich (who prior to previous league game had taken 6 points from 18) away with aplomb? Or that Middlesborough team that on the 6 game form table stands at W5 D0 L1 GF12 GA5 compared to Uniteds of W5 D1 L0 GF12 GA5 and whose fantastic January transfer window is two loans from Villa and a £900K signing from Rotherham but released two players for small fees, one terminated contract and three players send out on loan. Does that constitute a good transfer window that will be close a 12 point gap over 17 matches?

Burnley have been scraping results just like us even having to come from behind in several games, the most in the division. I've watched them live on the box twice since the restart and they were shocking both times, they had one notable shot at Stoke and scored from it. The difference is because of their high profile manager they're the Championship media darlings and so unlike us how crap the really were is forgotten whilst the pundits wax lyrical about what a great job he's done. It also has to be said that also unlike a lot of us, Burnley's fans don't seem to give a toss how poor they've played on the day as long as they get a result.

From a stats perspective Burnley are miles ahead of their expected goals tally. A few weeks ago that Benson had 8 goals vs 1.5 expected goals. He's fluked a goal from a cross twice. Everything they hit goes in. It is possible they might regress to the mean.

If you want to see a shitshow look at Everton trying to buy players yesterday and not even being able to tempt free transfers to join.

Unfortunately whilst we are a Football Club and whilst this is our Football Club, ultimately it is a business. The last 5 days are reflective of a game of "business chess" in my oponion which is a very normal game, however unfortunately it emotionally impacts the fans.

The way I see it is thay is goes down to the very basics of selling something, just like you and I if we was listing something on Ebay.... E.g You list what you want rid of and you add the postage and packaging costs on top. If we were to pat those ourselves then we are potentially eating into our own profits and we don't want that. The buyer on the other hand is looking for something at the right price and has agreed what they are willing to pay all in, they don't want to occur any additional charges.....

I know this is probably a very poor analogy because the complexities are much more, but ultimately I genuinely believe that it is the sale of the club which has led to such a public shit show. I don't think it is much of a secret that HRH wants to exit the club with as much profit as possible, after all he has his "United World" umbrella to upkeep.

Who knows what initial terms had been agreed between both parties in agreeing the sale of the club?

Who knows whether the player sale costs had originally been discussed and what was agreed in terms of paying them?

BUT ultimately it appears that a storm has been weathered if the boardroom announcement is to be believed. We have kept hold of our key playing assets and it seems an agreement is in place to put right the embargo stuff. We have to trust that this is the case now and that things run smooth at business level.....

At the end of the day it has to and actually I strongly believe that things look good on the horizon. After all, would Ndiaye and Berge's agents be advising them to stay put if we had any potential problems ahead?

We are second in the league and have been flying of late. Let's now put our attentions back towards supporting the boys and getting them over the line.... Hopefully the boardroom keep business affairs away from the football from now on.

After years under Dyche do you blame them?
