The last few days, on top of the transfer embargo, have been an utter shitshow from the owner of the club. I have no idea what the playing or coaching staff are thinking after the last few days of selling/not selling players but the Prince's competence has to be called into question.

We could have had a nice calm end of transfer window but no, 3 days of utter idiocy. I hope it doesn't have a detrimental effect on the players. I'm glad we haven't sold anyone but it's has felt like utter chaos.

12 points clear and 2nd in the league.

G'night.

I’m hoping this shot show galvanises the players with Hecky giving a rousing speech to his troops and to build them up into a frenzy and get out there Satdi and muller the Millers for beating us at what was fortress BL

Try Everton for a shitshow: they've got a 1,611 page 'January Transfer Window 2023' thread and ended up signing no-one. I'm happy with keeping our top assets!
Already up.to 1613 pages since you posted!

Every player Everton went for "the computer said no"

Pure genuis if the Prince has cooked this up to put pressure on the new owners to pay to get us out of the embargo.

Totally disagree.

The Prince has explained the situation many times
Any player at Sheff Utd could be sold BUT only if another club meets our valuation AND we have replacements of a standard that will improve the squad lined up.

It's some of our fans that have panicked with doom and gloom predictions and surprise surprise it was all for nothing.

"We'll never buy Brewster, he's the best youngster in England, we lack ambition and won't pay his wage demands"
"We won't buy Berge, he's been chased by Napoli and Liverpool, we don't have the ambition to buy such a great player"
"If we're relegated don't expect Berge to hang arounf, he's too good for the Championship and we'll cash in whilst we can"
"The Prince is tight, so we'll sell N'Diaye as soon as the 1st decent offer comes along"

When will our fans learn to have some faith?

The Prince has now sold the club so of course he's lost interest and won't push the boat out.
However of course he won't sabotage the club either and leaves us in a much better position than when he arrived.

The embargo is nothing in reality, as soon as the takeover is agreed the EFL can take the debt out of the deposit they already have.
Of course there's serious consequences if the embargo isn't cleared inside 1 month, so of course it will be cleared.

The only time to panic is if this takeover is made up, which is unlikely
or the takeover breaks down either because it's not approved by the EFL or the new buyer decides to back out for some reason (again unlikely).

Very happy with how January has ended, what more could we have wished for? Most of our strikers are available now too so even that’s less of a worry, we’ll be sound.👍

For me this January transfer window is just par for the course.

Other clubs have strengthened while we have stood still.
We started the season with a strong squad, so standing still, still means we have the same strong squad and it gives us a great chance of promotion.

I bet you the new owner said Berge and illy were assets that were part of the deal , sell them before the deals done and I am off or you take less for the sale .
And to be honest he would be right to do so !

And there was me reading on expecting to see the OP's humorous punchline. What a fooking let down!

It’s up to you how you want to look at it, we have a few very good players who will have had suitors, I’m glad we still have them all.

As a matter of interest who has actually strengthened and how? A genuine question as it’s all well and good clubs panicking on the last day but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve strengthened.

As ins and outs go i’d say there’s only Watford Huddersfield and perhaps Sunderland who look like they could be better than they’ve done in the first half of the season but they all have injuries to contain with so that could even it out, it’s hard to gauge, I’m more than happy that we’re still better than most if not all clubs in the league. 👍

We have a 12 point gap between us and third, we have the best squad in the division, we have some very highly touted players and when clubs have come sniffing round we told them to do one. Just because you're not privy to the goings on inside the club, it doesn't mean work isn't being done.

Not sure what your definition of a 'shit show' is but this certainly isn't one.

True, but standing still with a squad that, once injuries have cleared up, continues to increase the gap between itself and the chasing pack.

Keeping it together was a real victory.

All’s Well That Ends Well .

Disaster averted! I can't help but feel happy/relieved. I can't help but feel that the tyre kickers came to take advantage and were ultimately thwarted by discussions between the new/existing owner. There are still big issues at Bramall Lane with a disastrous contract situation and us losing a bit of our depth. Hopefully Mcattee is back soon and we don't regret not signing a Khadra/Mcattee replacement. Ultimately we avoided the Beattie, Deane/Fjortoft, Blackman style window of the past. Given our league position this would've trumped the lot. Some of the copium I saw posted by Blades was a wonder to behold; proper gallows mentality. At least it's a new rope etc.

Agree, the current squad is good enough to be promoted.

I was meaning the old adage that you try to improve from a position of strength.
Teams that aim to maintain and stand still, risk going backwards.

I'd say a decent transfer window would be keeping the same players and bringing in a loanee to replace Khadra,
However it's been OK and could have been far worse.
