I think Wilder might just be creeping into the bad decision making again.

Hope I'm proven very wrong and both players turn out to be good signings.

Got them lined up. Just waiting for the "confirmed" sign to go up. The views I've gathered on Brown from the Bury fans aren't as bad as the ones Danny had come across but I don't either signing will have the fans jumping for joy

If Wilder is signing them they can do the right job , at the right price and right fitness level for a 46 game season .

Not bad decision making but good risk management . Time will tell but at least Wilder knows what he his doing . No more square pegs in round holes syndrome.

For those not able to listen:

Leon Clarke's scan results are still coming through. A possibility he'll be involved at the weekend.
Lavery took a 'bang' in the under 23 games on his ahilles but also should be involved. It was just sore. Trained today and may be involved at the weekend. Still finding his feet. Has great pace and can be effective even if he only plays 20 minutes.
Sharp and Done are both playing well and scoring goals. But Lavery and Clarke give both competition and different options. The bench is stronger but not as strong as it could be.
Contract being discussed with Reece Brown as cover right-back/right wing-back. He has a 'really good pedigree'. Freeman is playing well though.
Cameron Stewart plays today at Newcastle and is a wide player with another good CV.
Stewart and Brown are both described a bit as reclamation projects who are out of work and have something to prove. Contracts have to be earned.
On 4 wins in a row: we are taking opportunities in the box and not making mistakes in our own, which was a feature of the first few matches.
The general play box to box could still stand to be improved.
On EEL: he has impressed everyone and given us solidity to our play along with Jake Wright.
It is still early days but he's enjoying himself and we're enjoying him being with us. Committed defender. He really wants to keep the ball out of the net.
He's big and that's part of us being a team that wins battles physically.
On Fleck: He wants to be in the team and has a great attitude but actions speak louder than words. Great in training. He will be a big player for us but Coutts and Bash are keeping him out of the side.
'The next game is the biggest' - Scunny respected but not feared with good strikers.
We are showing signs of having a bit more steel and fight to us which will hopefully mean a better performance than we usually serve up at Scunny.
As usual we will try to press them high up the pitch.
We've been doing well recently and momentum is key.

We played well and won last year at Scunny?

I've never heard of any of them.

That said under Bassett I'd never heard of some of players he signed in the early days.
Same here ,wouldn't know them if they walked in our front room ,makes me laugh when all these experts come on here saying he can do this cant do that ,bad signings , good signings blah blah when truth be known they've never seen these players in their lives ,but a quick trip on google makes them Mr Sheff Utd talent scout.

Perfectly said!

TBF to Brown, Lafferty has been decidedly average during his short spell with us but I'm sure there is better to come from him.

Having listened to Wilder's interview, it wouldn't surprise me if these were both simply short-term 4-month deals to cover us till January.

Forgot Cameron Stewart was in the Hull side on Boxing Day 2010

That third goal is my lasting memory of him. Put the burners on and left our defence for dead. If he still has that kind of pace and acceleration post injury, he could be a very good signing.

If they’re very modest, short term contracts, then I think there’s only so bad it can be. He said we lack cover in those areas and these lads provide that just to tide us over if Freeman is out for a bit. I’m not expecting much at all from Brown, just a short term solution til we can sign better.
