I hope you can come and apologise for this statement. We all make mistakes and I hope this is yours. Over to you WWF.

I have nothing to apologise for. My simple statement that I am embarrassed by our lack of signing black players is how I feel. We have no black players in our squad. That is not something I readily understand. No other clubs I know of are like that. I think black players add athleticism to
Just how many signings does the man need?

If only he had signed a handful of good players instead to add to the numbers to make up the squad.

Of our best 8 players (IMO) Murphy, Baxter, Reed, Doyle, Howard were already at the club when he took over. Of the other 3 Brayford and Done cost a fortune for this league and Basham was signed as a midfielder but can only play at the back.

What a crap Head Scout we have. His bus pass has boundary limits within Derby but he must go to Blackpool for his holidays and maybe has an uncle in Scotland who never watches Scottish Premier League.

Amongst that mediocrity there's only one above 6foot. The law of averages should have led to just a few big uns in there somewhere.

I have to add that the same law of averages should have led to more black player signings too. It may not be deliberate but it's embarrassing.

My post above makes three main points:

The majority of our best players were here before Clough.

There is only one tall player amongst all his recruits.

The squad has no black players, a fact which I personally find uncomfortable and embarrassing.

I believe our squad should be better and that it would be all the better for having more taller players and some black players, both tend to use their physical attributes to good effect. Those two factors make us different to every league football squad I know and we are the poorer for them.

I repeat that I am embarrassed we have no black players

Why is it embarrassing?

.

Do you also feel uncomfortable and embarrased that we have no openly gay players in our squad? Surely they are more under-represented in football.

And how about Asians, Pakistanis and Indian? They are sorely under-represented given their population numbers. Are you uncomfortable and embarrased about that too?

What would your solution be? Are you suggesting that Clough goes out of his way to sign "minority" players? If so, what would be an acceptable number? Three? Four? Should we play them ahead of our white players, regardless of form?

What about Che Adams ????

Is he openly black or only on a Sunday and not at any other time.

No I thought you would defend the indefensible and back it up with more laughable commentary to defend your stand point.

I don't look at the colour of the player wearing the shirt. I don't care. The only people who would make a point of it are clearly hellbent on disliking the manager no matter what shit they have to throw up to make their point.

For me if we were an team filled with eleven black players, some black players or no black players it makes no difference. A football club isn't about filling quotas so you look ethnically balanced.

You'll be telling me Howard Kendal sold Blake because he was black next.

To be honest I hadn't even noticed until it was pointed out recently.

I really don't think there's any mileage in this WWF - although if you wanted to accuse our Nige of being "sizeist" you might have a point ;)

#sufc boss NC says Scougall, Flynn, Howard are all back in full training, but are unlikely to feature tomorrow.

#sufc boss NC says Freeman should be fit to play as should McEveley, who'll need a pain killing injection in his shoulder.

#sufc boss NC says he's still hoping to add to the squad before the close of the loan window on Thursday week.

Harrison McGahey could also be sent back out on loan, if opportunity arises
Not more signings please - unless it's Bale

Not in a month of Sunday's did I expect any different reactions but any forum is about expressing opinion and feelings. That's what free speech is about . Could anyone help me to be more comfortable by naming any squad in the football league with no black players? Has the England squad got 5 or 6? Black players are very often star players. Asians players rarely are BTW.

Black players are athletic, black players are often star players. Any other stereotypes you want to chuck in there?

I can't name one, including SUFC. Here's a picture of Che Adams

Examples if you insist, but point taken. The points were mentioned to point out the footballing reasons for their inclusion.

If this is what you currently feel WWF, fair play for posting it. I'm sure you also reserve the right to alter your stance based on the questioning and feedback from your fellow Blades? Like others, I'm interested to read your response to the following:

1. What colour is Che Adams?

2. Do you advocate quotas for black players and other minorities?

3. Do you believe Nigel Clough is racist based on his transfer dealings to date?

Yes and no. But it doesn't make it right does it!! That's like saying there's plenty of people out there who commit crime so its okay if everyone does it.

You think it's okay to personally attack a manager and throw disgusting allegations at him just because he's going through a rough patch. The same manager that has had us in two cup semi's in less than a year! Our fans are a disgrace sometimes.

Just because other clubs have moronic fans doesn't mean ours have to be the same. Wouldn't it be great if ours were different.

But they'll never change. Look back over the years;

Bassett - "long ball horrible football so we'll stay away". Crowds struggled to get over 20,000 in our best few seasons in 30 years.

Kendall - "alcoholic"

Warnock - "Colin Wanker - long ball horibble football, get him out"

Blackwell - "cackwell" "blackhead" any other name our brainy fans could muster up. Long ball football, get him out blah blah blah. There is no way we would have been relegated had he been in charge in 2010-2011. Also during this reign when we lost at home to the Pigs 2-1, it was the most embarrassing derby atmosphere I've witnessed. Fans were more focused on booing Blackwell then getting behind the team.

Robson - never stood a chance "alcho" "shoes off" - one of Britain's legendary footballers hounded out of Bramall Lane. We couldn't even give him respect for what he achieved in the game, but resorted to chav like protests in the car park. He deserved to be sacked, but also deserved some respect and to go with dignity.

Wilson - "pig, we hate him" - pre appointment chav protests in the car park again. Lucky for him he had a good season. The second season when the going got tough fans turned on him,

Clough - poor bugger never stood a chance. He should have quit after the FA Cup semi as it was never going to get any better than that.

I'm interested to see who the next gaffer will be and what our fans will muster up this time.
You missed Heath - Cunt
Weir - useless clueless cunt
Adams - ale house

Whoops it happend again. United go 1-0 up on 8 minutes and then we hang on to half time - negative Nigel gives his usual half time team talk, we defend for the second 45 minutes and just manage to hang on to a 1-1 - sorry but it says it all!

It u
I think you can get the colour black by mixing all colours.

I stand to be corrected but I'm sure I remember something about it from schooldays (50s-60s)
It used to work in the 50/60's but since we got the tinternet it's changed

You make something which approaches black. A true black would have a near uniform absorption across the visible spectrum. Of course when talking about additive colour (emissive such as your TV) mixing all colours gives you white light.

1. Maybe Adams is mixed race, and maybe he is in the squad, more a development player who we rarely see on the pitch.Anyway Bohemian this is not about one man who might be regarded as a "token" by some.

2. No.

3. Who am I to judge and I certainly would never do that. I'm a thoughtful man with middle of the road views, not a politically correct person by any means. Obviously the loan of Campbell-Ryce made me uncomfortable again but I believe this is a corporate responsibility not just an individual responsibilty and I cannot believe the son of the great socialist Brian Clough and a footballer who has played with so many black players could possibly be racist.

Your point about altering my stance has to be pertinent but I suppose its hard for posters to agree with my views publicly on a subject which is outside all our comfort zones. As for those who have been quick to disagree, unfortunately they have not understood my comments. I am not calling Clough a racist but I will not be comfortable until what I regard as an anomaly is put right. The inference may be that I am insinuating Clough is a racist, I accept that, but I would never do that unless I had proof.

The only purpose of my comment was to highlight three main areas of flaws in our recruitment record and all of them are to the detriment of the team - in footballing terms. The absence of a healthy black contingent in our squad is a serious weakness IMO, there are so many black players so much better than our bland, interchangeable and endless list of mediocre look-alikes.

Just for the record Bohemian. After reading this do you believe I owe anyone an apology which has been demanded?

Woodwardfan I for one don't judge you as a racist and don't believe you owe anyone an apology! You have the right to say what you want and we should all accept and fight for everyone's right to free expression of views.

This racist thing is bollocks. It's an experiment gone wrong. Leaving the expectation of a certain striker rejoining I can just see Clough and his Brother thinking there's loads of cheap talent in Scotland lets go shopping.

There aren't many black, coloured (call em what you want cause I'm white or pink) players in kilts to pick from. End of, there's loads of small pale Scotsmen up there and we have bought loads of them (too many) nowt racist about that, as I said, it's just an experimant gone wrong nothing to do with the colour of a players skin!
