It should ONLY be about quality - and as for the nobhead who writes in the back of the Sunday Mail, Oliver Holt - apparently the Rooney rule should be introduced in ONLY the lower leagues so as to get experience before moving to the premier league.

Maybe there just isn't many coloured players in Derby, Blackpool and Scotland, maybe it is just the scouting and where we look, other teams have at least one or two sometimes more quality coloured players so they are out there waiting to be found. If you cast your net in the same small pond you are likely to keep catching the same sort of fish.

Blackwell - "cackwell" "blackhead" any other name our brainy fans could muster up. Long ball football, get him out blah blah blah. There is no way we would have been relegated had he been in charge in 2010-2011. Also during this reign when we lost at home to the Pigs 2-1, it was the most embarrassing derby atmosphere I've witnessed. Fans were more focused on booing Blackwell then getting behind the team.

Robson - never stood a chance "alcho" "shoes off" - one of Britain's legendary footballers hounded out of Bramall Lane. We couldn't even give him respect for what he achieved in the game, but resorted to chav like protests in the car park. He deserved to be sacked, but also deserved some respect and to go with dignity.

Wilson - "pig, we hate him" - pre appointment chav protests in the car park again. Lucky for him he had a good season. The second season when the going got tough fans turned on him,

Clough - poor bugger never stood a chance. He should have quit after the FA Cup semi as it was never going to get any better than that.

I'm interested to see who the next gaffer will be and what our fans will muster up this time.

Trevor Phillips was on Radio 4 this morning talking about this very thing, the use of the word "coloured" as I think Benedict Cumberbatch got slated for using the same word, and the mock outrage of the inappropriate use of a word leads to the failure to discuss the wider issues of race. Just saying.

Bassett got in trouble on 5 Live earlier this season for using the word "coloured". Benedict Cumberbach had to issue a grovelling apology for using it.

Meanwhile black leaders in the USA go on about "People / communities / children of colour" all day and no one bats an eyelid. The foremost racial pressure group in the US is the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People)

When I (and people like Dave Bassett) were young we were taught that it was racist to use the term "black". The preferred PC term was "coloured". Nowadays in the states, "African American" is the PC term, even if it causes confusion for e.g. Black Brits or white South Africans who have moved to the US

Personally, I think "coloured" is a better term than "black" as people of African origin have various hues of sking, from light brown to dark brown to black. Whatever, it doesn't mean someone who uses the term is racist. We should all chill out a bit more.

And suggesting that it's "embarrasing" that we don't currently have any black players in the first team is frankly ridiculous given that they make up less than 5% of the UK population, and we have been moving heaven and earth in our attempts to sign a black striker from Brighton

Indeed ...... politically correct "mumbo-jumbo" clouds football issues. Some players are black, some players are white, some players are brown or a variety of shades in-between. I couldn't give a flying f**k and I equally couldn't give a flying f**k about somebody telling me that they're offended because somebody described somebody with a non-pc "designation". The question is ..... are they good enough to do their job well for my club ??

Regrettably, there is an industry been created and lots of air time / headline space to be made out of a variety of non-football issues. I would like to just get on and concentrate on the issue of slowly ( very slowly ) creating a squad which is capable of competing and getting us out of this self-imposed exile in a crappy, agricultural Division that we SHOULD have been able to get out of two years ago !!!

In my opinion you are correct - but coming from the land of Martin Luther King and the issues of the deep South I can understand the reasons for it.
It isn't needed in the UK, but it doesn't stop some wanting to spoon feed some people well up the food chain without having the ability of quality to go with it.
