^^^^^^^ What he said, and like I said previously depending where you look determines which players you will find, now if we went scouting players in London we would have a much higher chance of finding players of the smaller ethnic groups than if we only look in rural areas in Scotland. I don't think it is anything racist but I do believe we are missing out with our scouting, we should be casting our nets much further afield than Derby, Blackpool and Scotland.

Yeah I am serious.

Yeah he was crap for us, and it was right to sack him, but the level of abuse he got was crazy. He is one of England's top 10 footballers of all time, yet walked away from Bramall Lane probably thinking we are a tin pot club with numpty fans.

One of our "fans" even went onto the pitch and thew his scarf at him when we lost 3-0 at home to Arsenal in the League Cup - only one of the best teams in Europe! And this was about 2 months into the job!

That was two months too long into the job.

Top ten footballer? Possibly

One of the worst ten managers? Yes.

Blunkett wouldn't have picked him.

Much depends on the quality of new signings be they permanent or on loan. Clough has not signed enough players noticably better than we had already, not enough game changers. Listing all his signings and rating them individually i give him an average 5.8 out of 10. Nowhere near good enough. We are rebuilding with poor materials. Done and Brayford? any manager can sign quality when the Board throws money at the problem; in fact Done has yet to prove he can be more than a one season wonder, there have been many of those over the years.

Why we have not gone for a young Prem striker on loan as a stop gap I will never know. Take MKD for example, they had Afobe for the first half of the season and have signed a new likely lad in his place.. Where would we be now if we had done that. Preston have Gallager and Beckford on loan. Bristol signed Wilbraham and Agard and a great mix of abilities and types of player. Swindon have loads to offer up front with a great mix of physiques and abilities all over the pitch.

Often loan players become permanent signings and it is a positive source of attracting quality. If the loanee takes to the manager and the club he will naturally come back like Brayford did. Studying successful competitor teams there are many former loan playerson their books.

We all know we got it all wrong with loanees a couple of years ago but in moderation it is an obvious route. As for the Davies type loan, thats more a move to a permanent signing and I'm afraid it smacks of more of the same old to me. It lacks imagination and ambition.
