There's armies of decent players out there - more than there are places to play them in. Just one example is Zoko. A stand-out player for Carlisle last season yet now 'out of contract'. Beavon? Freeman? (Stevenage).

I was talking specifically about KMac & Willo. I tend to agree with you on them.

My point related to the out-of-contract players from elsewhere, and maybe some of the ones you mention who, for all we know maybe have deals on the table from SUFC but are biding there time to see if owt better turns up.

Incase any of this is news to anbody, here is my understanding:


Problem 1: We're being snubbed by out of contract players (both existing and prospective).
Reason: We cant afford to pay them the same as bigger and higher clubs can.

Problem 2: We've got an overloaded wage bill which we are powerless to reduce
Reason: Nobody will take on our high earners because they are crap.

Problem 1 + Problem 2 leads us to this scenario:

We cant make any significant moves in the market.

Let us be clear on this though - THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF DANNY WILSON.

In the last week or two due to being very critical of the club I have been called a knobhead ........ really thick, also due to a term I used that is also used in S6 it was implied I might be a Wednesdayite. Also when the club is criticised the obligatory Biggest Blade/pissing contest thread is started all fairly predictable and par for the course I'm just really surprised it took someone so long to come up with the question of how many games per season do you go to as if to say my point is more valid because I'm a Season ticket holder or I go to away games or I am in the super draw or I have some shares or I buy a shirt at the start of the season.
So which boxes do you tick sunshine just one or two or all of em ?
I know one box that you do tick ...........you are just another one who is finding it hard to debate your viewpoint and are finding it hard to take that your beloved Blades might not be doing things as good as they should.
Just another one in a long line who throws a wobbly and insults when he can't defend his rose tinted point of view.

We are where we are. If you no longer support the Blades then you've got your reasons, and I can't challenge those with any knowledge of the underlying facts. If you think the club should be funded by the money tree, whilst openly stating that an 8 mile round trip and a £15 outlay isn't worth it, then I think that should be challenged all the way.

Take up tiddly winks. Support the pigs. Be a Radio Sheffield listener of The Blades games. That's all fair enough. But if you put nothing in, as far as I'm concerned, your input into the current financing of the club is worthless.

There's no fomula. Clearly someone living in Australia has every reason. Someone living 4 miles away has next to none. There's a whole spectrum in between. You're positioned at one extreme (fuck all financial input withthe ability to have some) shouting odds at the other (the only way is that someone else stumps up millions to avoid sales)

A very good point about the superdraw I was in it when it started as the Blades revival when the aim was to help bring players into the club now it seems just the opposite other than making the club a yearly income I do question the point of having an Academy unless we see ourselves as another Crewe Alexandra.
As to the 200 mile drive to each game I can't be arsed with a 4 mile bus ride to see that shower, after 50 odd years supporting the desire was beaten out of me a few year ago as it does with us all, it just happens sooner or later depending on the person.

Have been in the old Blades Revival since it started so I can understand your frustrations, but with the current economic situation and the lack of firm committment at the lane there will be more empty seats this season,unless we are challenging again.
We will wait and see.

Look I'm just as dismayed as any other blade but you have to admit whenever anything goes wrong at the lane your posting goes through the roof

I had some great times supporting the team last season but ultimately it ended in failure but it's nothing new is it ? When I started supporting the team we were in div 4 in a ramshackle ground but I loved it and I'm not about to give it up now just because we aren't the best team in the world

I can relate to the above post. It's difficult to understand why the club's actions are met with such dismay at times. We've predominently been a second tier club that flirts with the top flight and we've been in the third before as well. Nothing about our current situation on or off the pitch is new to us.....we haven't looked like winning a major trophy this side of WWII.

Mediocrity is common place at the lane although we are sometimes spoilt with a little bit of brief excitement when we think we might be going places. A bitterness lingers since our last relegation from the top flight and how we've fallen since....It's gone, let it go. What's done is done and we're a third tier club that has to work with a budget. The chairman doesn't want to fund it, he wants it so sustain itself....we are where we are....deal with it.

It's only football after all.
