I agree Soton, but we must have offered both Willo and KMac contracts so we can at least negotiate for replacements using those figures

Soft as shit Wilson, talk about letting the tail wag the dog get replacements lined up if they havn't signed by the time we do that fook em both off.
As for Williamson I'd tell him if he don't sign he don't train at our facilities why should we get him fit for Barnsley FC ?

Well, when you put it like that

The club must already know the wages budget as we had to inform the football league what is was going to be on 25th June. (I.e. 65% of our turnover). Why hasn't Wilson been informed what we've told the league?

I suppose he could be referring to the budget he's allowed to spend on transfer fees but none of the players we're being seriously linked with require a transfer fee.

I still think the best option for the club football-wise would be to allow Wilson to sign the players now. If he goes over the allowed wages budget a transfer embargo will be imposed but so what, we'll already have the players we need.

Surely the final budget is dependant on any of the high earners leaving and maybe that is what he is referring to. Hopefully someone has a spreadsheet with the current budget and then scenarios of various players leaving. If not, I will do it for a small large fee :-)

McDonald's season was finished by injury, yet people want him to be at training without contract. That would be utter stupidity if he came back without one

So sign a fucking contract then!!! FFS, he's a decent player, his re-signing would be a huge boost but ffs he isn't bigger than the club. Wilson is making a right twat of himself here, as previously said, grow some fucking bollocks and give him an ultimatum, you're making us look like a third rate bunch of amateurs who'll stand to be shat on. No wonder players and their agents take the piss if this is how much of a soft touch we are. Truth be told he could be out of work next season, I'm sure the grabbing bastard and his agent won't be so cocksure if that happens will they?

As to having no budget yet well laugh my bollocks off, King Kev strikes again. I'm sure his businesses have tightly run budgets, looking at future projections and the like but his little hobby seems to be run like a 14 year olds school project. What a fucking joker this bloke is, and still he manages to convince some that he has the clubs best interests at heart.

yes i heard earlier he`d been seen walking into the south stand, maybe he thought`fek training,is there a roulette machine in here?`

I work at the Enterprise centre and he definately was at The Lane yesterday and going into the South Stand. Obviously I have no iea what he was here for but he was definately here. Further talks perhaps or picking up a few things and saying goodbye ??

as several people have already posted - time to give the players a deadline. in/out simple as that make your choices boys and let us plan for the season ahead.
if we need replacements, we need to identify them, get them on board asap, we need to be flying out the traps come August!
as for the budget - my interpretation is he does know a budget, that budget is f**k all! sounds like DW's hands are tied, it's loan players or free transfers until some further movement out of the club i.e monty.

There's not knowing the budget and not knowing the budget.

1. No fucking idea what is in the pot to pay salaries/transfers etc = not knowing the budget

2. If M and Q leave there is £n, if they don't there is £b, if Mc and W sign and M and Q leave there is £e, if they sign and M and Q stay there is £r = not knowing the budget.

I've a feeling Wilson is dealing with the latter!

I heard this through a mate that was chatting with someone high up in the club whilst they were on holiday. Its 2nd hand information, so obviously don't take it as gospel. I make no apologies for not giving any detail on who the guy from the club was.

- Danny Wilson was told by McCabe to promote the development squad (inc Philliskirk, Whitehouse and Ironside)

- McDonald would probably leave and they would try to keep Quinn and Williamson

- The problem is Monty big money, only Millwall want him but he doesn't want to go.

Sadly the apathy I'm feeling for the club at the minute is unreal... If we can't even be bothered to thrash out budget at this stage then why the hell should be concerned about buying a season ticket and planning to go to games?

We're in the third division due to miss-management and poor planning, we didn't get out of the third division due miss-management and poor planning and we've started the pre season no different. This club is on a huge decline and I have a huge amount of sympathy for Danny Wilson as the bloke is trying so hard to keep things positive. I've always been optimistic but somehow DW not knowing his budget has struck a low chord with me, it's like we're not even trying anymore!

Whilst I'm on my reasons for apathy... The Matt Lowton fee really brings this to an all time high. I like many others pay for the superdraw, the superdraw directly funds the academy. I don't understand how a club that is desperate to promote "transparency" can take money from the fans pockets to bring these kids through and then when they are sold (as to be expected tbh) the value of this sale is "undisclosed"

This really isn't worth the drive anymore, a round trip to BDTBL is 200 miles. I've tried to positive and look at the club with the same faultless glaze of a 7 year old kid but it's been beaten out of me.

- The problem is Monty

I don't think you've given any clues away to your source with that Swiss.
Everyone in football knows that little gem.

I really don't see how DW is coming in for so much stick over this. He is tied down by the ludicrous contracts of players we can't shift and waiting for our better players from last season who are trying to get the fuck out on the best possible terms.
Look above Wilson for the bad guys on this one.

If we kick the crap out of DW, who do we want next, Mick Wadsworth or Quickfix back?

A very good point about the superdraw I was in it when it started as the Blades revival when the aim was to help bring players into the club now it seems just the opposite other than making the club a yearly income I do question the point of having an Academy unless we see ourselves as another Crewe Alexandra.
As to the 200 mile drive to each game I can't be arsed with a 4 mile bus ride to see that shower, after 50 odd years supporting the desire was beaten out of me a few year ago as it does with us all, it just happens sooner or later depending on the person.

The problem I have with Wilson is that he is about as inspiring as a wet lettuce, but its not his fault the club is a clusterfuck. He is probably as pissed off as we are.

Other than making the club a yearly income, which in itself is good enough reason, the point of the academy is to develop players to play for the first team, which it has done OK at, and it looks like we'll see some more coming through.

Or have I missed something?

Incase any of this is news to anbody, here is my understanding:

Problem 1: We're being snubbed by out of contract players (both existing and prospective).
Reason: We cant afford to pay them the same as bigger and higher clubs can.

Problem 2: We've got an overloaded wage bill which we are powerless to reduce
Reason: Nobody will take on our high earners because they are crap.

Problem 1 + Problem 2 leads us to this scenario:

We cant make any significant moves in the market.

Let us be clear on this though - THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF DANNY WILSON.

Can't fault you on problem2 there Tickler.

The problem I have with problem 1 is that the bigger and higher clubs haven't made their move to put us out of our misery and let us move on. If they'd take them then fair do's, but while ever they're just prevaricating it's limbo time (that's not the trying to get underneath an unfeasibly low stick by the way).

And there's the issue. Though I understand everyone has their reasons, it's difficult to listen to someone insisting that someone else keeps the club afloat with their hard earned millions, yet isn't prepared to put in a few hundred quid a year themmselves.

yeah you missed something as soon as they make the first team they are sold

It probably goes beyond Willo & KMac.

For all we know, they could have offers on the table to 10 new players who may very well be going along the same lines of 'I'll sign if nothing better comes along'.

Problem is, there's nowt we can do about it.

We're stuck in that place where we aspire for a better standard of players than the bulk of league 1 but in doing so we're competing with the higher payers in The Championship.

As I understand it the situation is this:-

1) We will sell any player who attracts a bid because “You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to play for you”.
2) We can’t sign anyone of note because we’re waiting for two players “who don’t want to play for us” to make it official.

So for all your hot air, you "can't be arsed with a 4 mile bus ride".

IF Willo and McDonald have got other offers then surely there is only so long the other clubs will wait for an answer, they will want to get their squad sorted as much as we do and I'd have thought they'd be inclined to be less patient than we would.

Also if they do exist they can't be much better than ours or they would be signing them.

I'd still rather they signed on 17th August than not at all and I would credit Danny Wilson with having alternatives, the downside being that his first choices may sign elsewhere but the club have obviously taken the decision that waiting for these two is the preferred option albeit risky, and that is their call to make.

'Course we can do something about it. FFS, we're talking Willo & KMac here, not Robin Van Persie. It's like a bird saying she's 'looking round, but if there's nothing better out there, I'll stick with you.' What kind of cunt puts up with that? Give them a deadline and stick to it. (And not the day before the season starts.)

There's armies of decent players out there - more than there are places to play them in. Just one example is Zoko. A stand-out player for Carlisle last season yet now 'out of contract'. Beavon? Freeman? (Stevenage).

I've joined you in that boat Metal, made the deccsion not to renew after 45 years of STs decided to pick and choose some matches the enthusiasm has been finally doused.
Incidentally how many STs have we sold for next season I would be suprised if i'ts much more than 11k with most home gates having an attendance of 12-14k.
