Donaldson at Birmingham. There in a mess at the minute. Not sure how much the wages would be

If we accept, which I think is a pragmatic approach, our aim next season is to remain in the Championship,I really feel we need serious improvemrnt up top just to achieve that aim.
As others have posted, scoring goals gets you somewhere and struggling to score gets you nothing but relegation struggles.
My genuine concern is without Sharps contribution this season we would be nowhere near promotion, add to that the freaky contribution from a defender,(Freeman) and it shows we have,in truth,a very poor strikeforce.
I really rate Lavery.
I don't see Hanson as more than that weird cunt Nitsefgkmdlcgh or whatever the cunt is called at the sty and its anyones guess what if anything Clarke might do.
McNulty can fuck off a very long way then fuck off a whole lot further as far as Im concerned and Done is exactly that. Done.
We need serious action in the penetration department.
I've no doubt Wilder knows that way better than anyone.

Was hoping Forest might go down so we could poach Assombalonga but I think they’ll stay up now. Wigan on their way down so Bogle might be gettable but not sure he’s done enough to convince since going there. Sam Gallagher has been mentioned and I think he’d be a very good signing if we could get him on a permanent deal. Gregory’s name keeps cropping up too. James Vaughan might also be worth a punt. Maybe we could pich Bradshaw from Barnsley?

I don't see us stumping up the cash for for Assombalonga, I think they paid a fair whack for him and would imagine he's on good money. Would be a bold statement of intent though.

Spot on I reckon.

Stick Kieran Freeman up front. Every shot he takes ends up in the net!

Sean,

Can't disagree with any of that.

You should ring Football Heaven on Radio Sheffield and tell them your viewpoint about our attack, word for word. It would be hilarious. Love the line "Done is exactly that, Done", it's a classic.

The lad Marquis seems to have hit a purple patch this year with regards goals. But having never seen him play I wouldn't like to suggest he would be a good buy. He needs to be quick, clever, and have two good feet and a great touch I feel to even consider him.

Failing that, if you look at Kemar Roofe, he was rated highly and gets the bench at Leeds. So it is certainly hit and miss regarding lower league players. They have to be well scouted.

I prefer the young premier league star, looking to play because he's sick of playing reserve and youth football. If they are playing reserve football for Arsenal, Man U, Man City, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea then he will be pretty good.
Here's a suggestion.....lost his way, needs an arm around him and proven he can score in the championship. Test boro with a cheeky bid for Bamford. Or let's look abroad towards the cheaper foreign players from German/French/Italian/Spanish second division sides.
Some right players been picked up there over the years.

Cameron Jerome would be perfect IMO. But Norwich would never sell him as he's the only striker injury free.

I think we should put a loan bid in for Carlton Morris, Norwich U23 but has been playing for Rotherham. Delia's crew really rate him and perfect level to be at.

Both partly match the black, French and pacey criteria.

No no no no no

Cameron Jerome is quite simply the worst finisher in footballing history

He couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo

Never mind missing one on ones, this bloke would miss every one on none if you took the goalkeeper out

I think I am massively in the minority here, as i still don't rate Hanson but i would definately keep clarke over hanson - hoofing is not going to work in the champ against better calibre defenders imo.

Jose says he's made a decision on Januzaj.....he's done nowt for two years after showing huge early promise.

Would benefit from some of the Wilder treatment, and although he might demand some serious wages as long as no premier league clubs come knocking you never know.
He's done nowt for Sunland and they are shit.

Depends if the lad fancies improving his game and becoming the player his potential suggests, or whether he feels that like many in his shoes, he is too big and will look for a top division club somewhere to fail again at.

I'd like to see a striker that can score goals at Championship level and I think there's a few of them around that wouldn't cost a fortune

Even if we get them from League One

I have serious concerns about our forwards

Sharp has been a good un and is capable in the Championship to a certain point...........but prolific I don't think he will be.
A good season and he'll get 12-15 a bad season about 8

None of the others will even get that many. Lavery might get a few but he'll get nowhere near 20

Wilder has a problem here and I just hope he doesn't decide to shore up the defence and nullify the opposition and try to pinch points here and there.

It is what has ultimately cost his predecessors and alienated many attack minded and creative players until they eventually wish to leave.

It would be a crime to not let the likes of Carruthers, Duffy, Fleck and Coutts play their natural game

Don't think we'll get Wood for 500k

Just had a scout and here's some strikers who's contracts are apparently up in June:

Darren Bent
Sami Ameobi
Libor Kozak
Marvin Sordell
Leon Best :D
Jermaine Beckford
Matty Fryatt

er mmmmmmmmm o_O

Reyt then looking at that lot, who can we go out and buy who's under contract?

Clearly there are spectacular players abroad that are within our scope.
The diving twat at the sty is testimony to that, but finding and signing a couple require the network and connections. I have no idea where ours extend to. I really hope we don't just have a punt on a few maybes/might bes/never will be's and Wilder dosen't strike me as the kind of bloke that would.
Im looking forward to seeing who comes in up top as I really believe they will define what kind of season we are in for.

Lewis Grabban is a typical example of the sort of player we'll be looking at.

How about Jerome Sinclair on loan?

David McGoldrick's gone a bit shit recently, how about him?

Danny Graham's not bad. Scored a few for Blackburn this season. Could Wilder get him back to his best?

Apostolos Vellios at Forest is someone who's got more to offer than he's shown IMO and Wilder could get the best out of him if Warburton doesn't fancy keeping him.

But I'll save the best till last. I think I have the answer. I give you.......

Chris O'Grady.

And those are all outstanding examples of what would guarentee a frightening relegation battle.
Thanks for the excellant scenario Herb.

A scoutng network abroad really is crucial if you want to get to the premier league on a sensible budget.
Jansen at Leeds springs to mind. We need to start exploiting it and I hoped the new fella might be all over it. We shall see.

Speaking of Leeds, they have a fair few decent young players there, many of which won't fit in with Cellinos idea of what a premier league team is. If they go up, they will get loads more foreign players. Only problem is they seem to be full backs.

James Vaughan anyone?

22 goals for a team on the brink if relegation is impressive.

Gallagher would be good also and for midfield i think marcus maddison we should try and poach as well.

I think that as a decent base for strikers next term,Billy plus a new addition to start.
Hanson will mix games up as he's a handful.Lavery is a great player also,so another cog in the chain.

The championship is a different kettle of fish, but not the huge chasm that's been talked about.

Nucleus is the key next year. Moore, o Connell,Freeman, lafferty, fleck,Coutts, sharp.
Build the team around those and we will be ok I reckon.

I do feel sentimental tho to the other players I haven't mentioned.
Scoogs in particular, who started this season so well and we havnt seen him since when????
This squad has been proven to be far better than we thought.
Remember how we started to shine when we relied on done starting every week???
How the season has Changed eh?
We need to remember the done and scouggs performances when we were starting to turn the corner.
Utb

Not after a Wilder-makeover!

Maybe someone of his experience/physical characteristics..
