On our fan forum someone made the comparison with the Pacific group who own Barnsley, Oostende, Nancy and some other small clubs. All of them are bottom or near bottom of the league. Fans at Nancy are organizing protests. They sign crap players. All players (and manager) who show quality (mainly in Oostende) are sold and funds are diverted to the owners. Apart from realizing successful outgoing transfers, the story does look very similar to our story. Basically they don’t care about sportive ambitions and are only there to gamble with cheap foreign players and hope to make huge quick profits on transfers.

I can kind of see some logic applied to certain signings but these are players that you introduce to a well established group that has been strengthened not as the guys to strengthen it. The sort of players you drip feed in:
66 Apostolos Konstantopoulos - 6'3" centre half. 19 years old. Played 29 matches in Greek top flight. Greek U-21 international. I suppose they hope Radic develops and this guy eventually partners him or replaces him. Radic signed the year before, similar profile, this time swap out the Greek youth stats for Croatia.
77 Leon Krekovic- 6'0" winger. 21 years old. Played a few matches in Croatia top flight but mainly for the reserve of Hajuk Split. Asking a lot for him to step up anytime soon.
11 Ramiro Vaca - 5'9" attacking midfield / left midfield. 22 years old. Plays for Bolivian national team.
Then you have Soumare, another left winger, from Senegal (so potentially 3 left winger arrivals now), aged 20, Okyere a central midfielder aged 18, from Ghana. All players who seem young to be supplanting the core of the team.
The issue seems to be that the marquee signings has been a flop:
17 Lawrence Shankland - 6:1" striker. 26 years old. Killed it in the Scottish Championship notching 24 in 26 matched but struggled in the SPL scoring 1 in 4. Given the first three I'd expect to be Development players/Squad players, at 26, you'd need Shankland straight in the team and performing. His previous year in Scotland didn't suggest he would do that.
Even in the case of the loanees, Caicedo is only 19 though of what I have seen, he's been 'ok' but is far from proven and De Smet and Lemos of what I have seen look like liabilities.
I see in January Rigo was signed and so was Avenatti. I suppose had these been summer signings, one being Belgium, the other having played in Belgium for some time they'd make a bit more sense but they are potentially too little, too late.
It just seems to me that whilst adding promising youth is a reasonable strategy, the players brought in as seniors to the group have not been high enough standard. I wouldn't even say it is poor level of spending as almost 4m had been spent on Eleke, Sazuki and Shankland in the past 2 seasons. It just happens that they're all crap.
With both Frans and Sanisi injured you would have expected to cherry pick the teams that went down at the very least to strengthen the main group. Seems more poor strategy than finances to be honest.
Big fortnight for you.
